“Good good, now use welding tool to join.” He moves Grace’s wrist to position the rod so it turns farther outward.
“Slow slow gentle,” he repeats. Grace is actually going to die.
He stretches his finger, tugging the wires connecting the mechanisms, and clicks the fingertips together to create a spark. Rocky chitters cheerfully behind him.
“Good good, Grace doing good.”
Grace’s face is burning. Rocky’s body heat seeps into him; he’s running hot all over, but especially in his face. Rocky doesn’t comment on it yet, hopefully ascribing Grace’s fever-like state to his own body being a smelting furnace.
He wets his dry lips again. “Thanks, bud, I think I’m getting the hang of it.”
Grace sucks at flirting. But when he comes across Ghost (1990) while looking for something to watch for their movie night, he has a brilliant idea: to recreate the pottery wheel scene with Rocky. He asks Rocky to teach him to make xenonite sculptures using Eridian welding tools. Naturally, things escalate from there.

You shake your head, but his long fingers bracket your chin and force you to nod instead. He flips you over like you weigh nothing and pins you on your back, slotting his cock into the crease of your thigh, slotting a hand into yours and lacing your fingers with his. He presses your linked hands to the pillows and leans down into your space, his chest flush with yours and his lips at your ear. You turn your head the other direction but he catches your earlobe with his teeth and squeezes your hand. The pillows smell like Ryland, like him.
“What’s my name?” he demands.

The more that I think about it, the more I believe in the small possibility that my unfertilized eggs may be safe for Grace to consume. It’s at least worth trying, I resolve, as I watch him cry himself to sleep for the fourth consecutive cycle. His stomach is constricting, growling loudly. He’s been unable to keep the coma slurry from resurfacing once again.
I can detect his body shutting down. I decide I can't allow this to continue. I won't allow myself to sit by and watch idly as he dies in front of me, like so many others have before him.
