Summary
Bruce realises it then with a sudden startle, all the anger and frustration that had been building up over the last couple days freezing under his skin, blood cold.
"You're trying to make me angry…" Bruce carefully says out loud, all the pieces of the puzzle finally coming together, watching the way Jason's shoulders tense at the shift in tone from angry to a calculative calmness, "On purpose?"
Jason's previous expression, one filled with twisted amusement at Bruce's apparent annoyance is immediately replaced with something tragic. His blue eyes grow wide and fearful, and Bruce watches in delayed understanding as the boy takes a fearful step back.
(Jason's change in behavior is cause for concern. Fortunately, Bruce is a pretty good detective — most of the time.)

He steels himself and he can barely hear his own voice over the loud, rushing static in his head. “And what about Jojo?”
She flicks her eyes away and he knows, he knows right then and there, and he tries not to vomit or read too much into such a small gesture, but she isn't leaping at the opportunity to tell him Joseph’s fine. He can only handle a few seconds of silence before he's speaking again, the fear disrupting his tone and becoming all too apparent despite the force he puts behind it.

Apoptosis- Form of cell death, also known as programmed cell death, in which a ‘suicide’ program is activated within the cell. It is a normal phenomenon, occurring frequently in a multicellular organism.
For all intents and purposes, the Lazarus Pit works. It brings Jason Todd back to life, back to sanity. It stitches together old wounds and grants a second chance to Gotham's Red Hood. The only side effects are temporary catatonia, then equally temporary insanity. The Lazarus Pit works perfectly.
Then, it doesn't.

“Oh, you fucking —”
“Boys,” Shiro interrupts sharply.
They both jump.
“One meal,” the Black Paladin sighs, hand sliding down his face. “Just — one fucking meal, where you two don’t fight.”
“I don’t get it,” Pidge comments, irritated furrow to her brows. “You guys hang out, like, all the time. You’d think you’d be able to talk without jabbing at each other.”
“I think they’re just weirdos,” Hunk says flatly looking at them with a very pointed expression. “I think they just enjoy going at each other. Like weirdos.”
Beside him, Lance averts his eyes, biting his lip to hold back laughter. Keith looks away so he doesn’t have to do the same.
“Sorry, Shiro,” Keith says, working hard to keep his tone neutral. “I’ll do my best to not rise to Lance’s bait.”
“And I’ll try really hard to be okay with stinky mullet’s presence as a whole,” Lance promises.
Shiro only shakes his head and sighs harder. Keith reaches over and pinches his boyfriend’s thigh in revenge.

The awe of the new tattoo doesn’t even wear off before Lance is calling to book another appointment. Hunk shakes his head the entire time Lance is on the phone.
“Dude,” he says, with no small amount of exasperation. “Just ask him out already so you don’t go broke.” (Lance cracked and spilled the whole truth almost immediately after he got back from the appointment. He was too excited to keep it to himself.)
“I’m trying, Hunk!”
“Are you? Because right now it looks like you’re avoiding the issue by making dumbass financial decisions and permanently marking your body instead of just using your words.”
“I’m — using my words. I’m just using them in an alternative format.”
“Uh huh.”
Lance scowls. “Just — shut up. I’ll ask him out after the next appointment, okay? And if he says no I’ll stop going.”
“Right. Sure.”
“I will!”

If it were anybody else, Lance would think they’re messing with him for fun.
But Keith is Keith, straight-forward and guileless. If he’s touching Lance more, it’s only because he’s gotten more comfortable. And on one hand, that’s great, that’s—Lance feels very honored. His heart is doing backflips and aerial stunts and everything. On the other, this is really not helping with his raging crush.
His breaking point turns out to be when Keith, exhausted after a day of subspace meetings, drops his head onto Lance’s shoulder and sighs.
It’s a sigh that says, now I’m comfortable, that admits, I’m recharging, that practically screams, you help.
Hands in his pockets, he lets Lance bear his weight as if he trusts Lance to handle it. Great. That’s just—how dare he. How dare he be so vulnerable with Lance? Who does that?
It’s so enraging that Lance just blurts out, “I’m going to need you to stop doing this before I fall in love with you even more, asshole.”
Keith freezes.

“well,” stanley says pragmatically the next morning, pretending like he doesn’t care as much as ford knows he does, “since he was sufferin’ and all, it was really better for him to be dead, wasn’t it? not much point in being alive if your whole life is terrible and you’re a danger to everybody you ever loved.”
something cold and sharp takes up residence in ford’s stomach. he doesn’t like hearing stanley say stuff like that. he doesn’t like it at all.
“i wouldn’t do it,” ford insists. “no matter what, i wouldn’t. there’s always another way.”
“heh. yeah, i bet you’d find another way, brainiac,” stanley teases, reaching over to muss ford’s hair. ford swats him away. stanley can make fun all he wants—ford still spends all night thinking about cures for rabies.
