“I don’t know,” Bob answered, and maybe it was just because his gaze wouldn’t settle in one place, but it sounded like a lie. “An hour, maybe. I’m not tired.”
“What are you feeling?”
“My head hurts.” He set his left fingertips on his temple, finally focusing on how he felt, what his body needed. “It feels like it’s on fire.”
Every morning, John wakes up before the rest of the team and spends a few hours alone. Enter: Bob, who can't sleep at all.

Summary
No one has ever washed his hair before. And it’s – the way John’s hands feel in his hair, the way they comb through the tangled strands so gently, the way his fingertips massage Bob’s scalp –
He wants to cry.
He is crying, actually, and that’s – it feels like there’s a pressure easing in his chest with every tear he sheds. His eyes are leaking like a goddamn faucet, but there’s a beautiful man washing his hair and he –
“That’s it,” John murmurs. “Let it out.”
Something about those words – let it out – makes something spark to life in his chest. The tears fall faster, and faster, until his shoulders are shaking and his chest is heaving and he can’t breathe. And it’s – he doesn’t think. Just moves. Turns around and throws his arms around John’s shoulders, because he’s not sure he can keep standing on his own. John makes a little oof of surprise, but then he wraps his arms around Bob’s waist and hugs him tight.
The sobs wrack his body. Bob doesn’t even know why he’s crying, only that it feels like something in his chest is cracking open. He clings to the man in front of him with every pathetic bit of strength he has, and tries to keep the tide from pulling him under.

Peter came stumbling into your apartment with his suit torn to pieces and blood dripping out, and from underneath the shredded suit, you saw the claw marks that scattered his ribs and back. His mask hanging halfway off his face but didn’t cover the gash above his left eye or the dried blood around his cracked lips. And the only thing keeping Peter up was the back of the door when closed it.
“Peter.” You jumped off the couch, tripping over your laptop cord in the process. You reached for him, ignoring the way his blood seeped into your cotton shirt and against your skin. Sticky and not wanted. You wrinkled your nose, leading Peter towards your bedroom. “What happened?”
“I don’t know,” Peter grumbled. His head rolled to the back before resting against your shoulder. “Can’t ‘member.”

Bob did not realize how his participation could backfire on him until every single person in the room raised their hand and somehow, he was the one they all looked at. He slowly lowered his hand back down to his lap, dropped his gaze to his book as if he hadn’t paid attention to their banter at all. Unfortunately, he was not half as subtle as he wished to be.
The odds of everyone raising their hands were high, which was why Bob joined in—he expected it to be funny. He did not expect the joke to be thrown back at him when John said, “All right, if Bob’s scar is cooler than mine, I’ll concede.”
The Thunderbolts start comparing their scars and Bob starts spiraling.

He pushes the door open and the room inside is just as black as the Void. His breath is even more visible and his pajamas seem like they’re mere scraps of cloth for how the air chills him. He has to squint to see the floor and bed, and when the shadows fade enough, he’s able to make out the curled up form on it. His chest aches as he gets closer and sees how twisted the sheets are around her, how her hands are clenched into fists, how her face is contorted in grief.
Nightmare, Bob thinks sadly.

The Thunderbolts are settling in as a team. They all have things that haunt them, things they'd rather forget. And when those things get too strong, too overwhelming, they work together to help each other. Bob has noticed one member doesn't like to open up and his powers uncover the reason why. -

So, Bob figures out pretty fast that when he has skin-on-skin physical contact with anyone, intentional or not, it tends to send that person into vivid and often traumatic flashbacks. And Bob, being Bob, doesn’t want to cause pain that he could possibly prevent. So he stops all physical contact whatsoever.
