And he tries to play it cool, casual, all: “Two, why?” over Robin’s earnest “Technically three, if you count Keith’s in the back,” and he doesn’t even have to act out the indignation in him when Dustin declares this sufficient, then elbows behind Steve’s goddamn counter and commandeers Steve’s goddamn computer.
He can even jump on board with Robin’s dismay—her pile dude, come on—but then Dustin blabs what he’s after:
“Looking up Eddie’s friends' phone numbers.”
And Steve’s heart starts beating heavier, weightier, and he has to really work hard to put the lessons he’s picked up into place. Every scrap of a straight fucking face he can muster.
Because he’s gotta nail this.

Eddie doesn’t get to ignore Steve and break Dustin’s heart and then just die to get out of the consequences. No. He’s going to live, and Steve will never let him do anything this stupid again.
“Holy shit,” Steve breathes as he skids to a stop, falling to his knees beside Eddie’s limp body. He shoves Dustin off of him, wincing at how unintentionally rough that was, but he can’t slow down, can’t hesitate; he needs to act now. He doesn’t waste time checking for a pulse, just locks his fingers together, one hand over the other, and presses down on Eddie’s chest.

Steve cops a faceful of Upside Down flower pollen in the tunnels, hours after Billy Hargrove tries to punch Steve's brain out the back of his head. Beyond the general hubbub of UD bullshit, Steve thinks he's made it out pretty much unscathed.
Months later, he makes a discovery. Turns out, he's much more intact than he'd thought. As in, his skin is baby smooth. Even the scar on his knee from his ill-advised ‘77 summer of skateboarding has disappeared.
OR: Steve Harrington can take a hit. He can take many hits. In fact, thanks to the Upside Down, there isn't a hit Steve can't take.

Viktor wakes early on this day, as he always does these extra, bonus days the Arcane gave them ever since it spit them out from the astral plane, like a bad infection it was eager to be rid of, his body a strange amalgamation of organic and machine, needing some rest but not nearly as much as a human. Not nearly as much as Jayce. The weak sun filters in through their gauzy curtains, a soft breeze cooling his skin. Jayce sleeps, his breath slow and steady, and Viktor watches him, catalogs the way his brows furrow, the minute twitches of his fingers, the sheet pooled along his tapered, slim waist.
Viktor and Jayce spend a long morning in bed, enjoying their retirement. Viktor might be obsessed with Jayce’s teeny little waist. And Jayce might be obsessed with Viktor’s hands.
