Michelle’s body was warm on top of Willow’s. In this heat, it was anything but comfortable, but Willow didn't care. All she could focus on was the weight of her there, familiar and exhilarating at the same time. The softness of Michelle’s skin against hers, her long limbs loose as she slept peacefully, nestled in Willow’s lap, unaware of the internal struggles that plagued her best friend’s mind.
It was torture. Willow was convinced God was testing her.

William got to his feet and turned around, prayer book clutched to his chest. Michael was standing in the center of the chapel, obviously just come from sparring practice. He was still wearing his dented cuirass, a leather pauldron on his right shoulder. The moonlight through the stained-glass windows painted him in blue and gold.
“Forgot to leave your armor behind in the gymnasium?” asked William lightly, skirting around him to set the prayer book back in its tabernacle.
“Something like that,” said Michael. He stepped out of the shaft of light, joining William at the perimeter of the circular room.
William closed the ornate wooden door of the tabernacle and turned to face him. “How did you know I’d be here?”
“I know you,” Michael said simply. I love you, he might as well have said, for the way it sent William’s heart skittering inside his chest.
Michael has been betrothed to the princess since their infancy. But it’s her brother he really wants.

"You are?"
Mike hoped it didn't sound as pathetic to them as it did to him.
Will grinned at him. "For sure. I can finally do something about that hair of yours."
Despite himself, Mike laughed out loud, cherishing the taunting.
It was going to be fine. If he could have this Will by his side again, he could take other men having their way with him a thin wall away from Mike. Couldn't he?
Or: Will gives Mike a little bit of tough love, encouraging him to stop wasting his life. Mike moves in with Will and Dustin in New York only to realize that Will has a very - very - active sex life. “Mike, stop. I have a boyfriend,” Will whispered. But he didn’t pull away. He stayed—staring at Mike’s mouth, wanting, aching. His tongue darted out to wet his lips, unconsciously mirroring Mike’s touch.
“That’s not what I asked.” Mike leaned in until their lips ghosted—barely touching, electric. His hands braced on the wall on either side of Will’s head. “Do you still love me?”

Where Mike Wheeler shows up to the Party reunion already screwed—because Will Byers walks in looking like every repressed fantasy Mike’s buried since college.
A year of grief, survivor’s guilt, and quiet realizations has Mike finally admitting the truth: he’s never loved anyone the way he loves Will. -

It would be funnier if Mike wasn’t so fixated on Will, at the miserable huddle she is between their friends. Her makeup’s smudged under her eyes, tears tracks glistening down her flushed face. She’s half asleep against Lucas, cheek squished against her shoulder. Lucas meets Mike’s eyes when she sees the look on her face. Knows she sees everything Mike’s feeling right now, always has.
“She only wanted you.” She explains apologetically. Mike’s heart is in her throat, nerves buzzing with the instinct to protect her. To take care of her. At the fact that out of all of their best friends, she was the only one Will wanted to get her home.

Will nods, “Yeah, of course, whatever you want.”
A small, violet hickey rests under the pad of Mike’s thumb. Only, it’s not one made by him—rather by Will’s boyfriend, Carlton. Will jumps to explain himself, but really, what is there to explain? Carlton is his boyfriend, not Mike.
A moment of doubt sparks in his mind before immediately fizzling out as Mike leans forward and nibbles on the mark.
