'He is the Archivist, but he tells himself that he is still called Jon. “I am still myself,” he insists, “and that will not change.” Perhaps he is right. Only he can know. He is still Jon, after all, in some senses. He has his body. He talks with his tongue. He remembers being Jon, and so perhaps he still is.
Let’s call him Jon, for a minute.
Jon wants so, so desperately to be afraid.'
Martin tries to comfort Jon in the new world that he has created. Loving him is difficult, but that's never stopped him before.

Maybe that dread can’t coexist with something as thoroughly normal as being irritated with Martin—

Martin helps out reading statements, for reasons he won't explain. Jon has never been able to resist pulling at loose threads. The Eye witnesses, as usual.
(Set after MAG94, and mostly written right after listening to that part; therefore there are a couple of accidental collisions with things that happen later in canon, despite my best efforts, mostly because I *somehow* underestimated how dense Jon is about some things.)

In hindsight, knowing his boss was freshly turned was rather funny.
Imagining a stumbling, confused, freshly turned vampire barely keeping himself together scolding him of all people was hilarious. Not that Martin could blame the man, he hadn't taken to the news of his turning well either. Didn’t mean he had to be such a dick though.
