When they first separated, Louis and Lestat had both agreed to keep the courts out of their custody plans. Unsurprisingly, it was Louis who proposed and finalized their schedule, knowing Lestat would simply agree to whatever it was Louis had decided.
First rule of drop off was that it had to occur in a public setting. It kept the situation amicable, and most importantly, it kept Lestat behaving (most of the time). They would meet on Fridays for Lestat to pick up Claudia, and then again on Sundays for Louis to get her back.Or, Louis and Lestat navigate co-parenting Claudia and their feelings for each other as a recently divorced couple.
