“Uhh... is that your art class project?”
Will nodded. “Yeah.” He smiled. “You can have a look if you like. Tell me what you think.” He pushed the closed sketchbook towards Lucas, picking up his jello pot with his other hand.
Lucas took it up eagerly, opening it to a random page. Will watched as his friend’s expression changed. Lucas flipped through a few more pages, mouth open, before quickly slapping the book shut and almost throwing it back across the table with a strangled gasp.
Will frowned. “What’s the matter?’” He gave an anxious little smile. “Surely not that bad?”
Lucas wiped his forehead with the back of his hand, his eyes flicking between Will and the book. “Uh... Not sure that’s your art project, dude.”Will has two sketchbooks. He really should have thought about having them in different colours.

Summary
During the 18-month skip before season 5, Mike starts making up his own fantasy language and gets progressively more carried away. And during the 18-month skip before the epilogue, it all starts coming back again.

Mike is that level of excited when he seems to be telling the story with his whole body, hands in motion, face going through a hundred expressions in a second, eyes glinting and very intense. The side of his face is lit by the 7 pm light from the window, that part of his hair a sunny fuzz. Then, two facts dawn on Will at once: 1) that might be his favorite version of Mike, and 2) this version hasn’t appeared in so long it feels like being hit and smothered by something really soft and warm.
‘Sounds cool,’ he says and Mike nods, and smiles, and rubs his hands, ‘so how’s ‘water’ again?’
‘Aekhel.’
‘And ‘fire’?’
‘Shangr.’
‘Shangr,’ Will repeats slowly, listening closely to the hissing sound. ‘Does sound like fire to me.’
That makes Mike smile even more, and the tips of his ears get a little pink. Eyes fixed and dark, but then he inhales, sharply.
‘Cool.’

“We’ll call as much as we can! Bye, we love you!” What–
“Oh! Love you too, Mike.” Joyce responded, shocked. “Love you too, Will!”
Will was openly laughing now. “Love you, Mom, bye,” He waved as the car pulled away from the cabin.
Mike’s cheeks burned red hot. He couldn’t be certain, but he’s pretty sure that he just told his best friend’s mother and the local sheriff he loved them.
Will turned toward Mike, buckling his seatbelt. “I didn’t know you were so close with my parents.”
“Shut up, please,” Mike mumbled.
The crunching gravel evened out to smooth pavement as they pulled back onto the main road. The car whirred slightly as Mike sped up, and Will’s laughter caught in the summer air blowing through the windows.Or
The summer before college, Mike and Will take a road trip. Along the way, they’ll face the grief of losing someone you love, the guilt of continuing to live on without them, and the desire to bridge the great divide together.

Figure drawing remains, regrettably, unavoidable, a class that demands technical skill, sustained focus, and prolonged eye contact with a naked human being under unforgiving fluorescent lighting. But routine, at least, offers safety.
Until the new model arrives.

Summary
There’s something wrong with Will.
It started three weeks ago, almost four. Will had woken from some sort of nightmare and, instead of seeking comfort in Mike the way he usually would, he’d rolled out a sleeping bag from the closet and chosen to sleep on the floor.
No one believes Mike, except for Joyce. But even she doesn’t understand the full extent to which something is wrong with Will.
Mike understands, though. Mike has been paying attention.

Summary
Lucas looks a little hurt. "But you could have told us it happened?"
Will resists the urge to bang his head on the table. Probably wouldn't help his case.
"I mean, I couldn’t really— it was—" He looks at Mike, gives a tiny shrug and a head shake, something subtle enough to be not picked up on by the rest, hopefully. A hail-Mike. A please find a way to help me out of this lie.
And Mike Wheeler, he does know how to answer a call.
"It was me," Mike says.
Will gets caught up in a lie about not being a virgin. Mike decides to help out. This surely will not spiral.
