“I put up with Tommy fucking innit for two months here and somehow that was less painful than this conversation,”

Techno sits down beside him, picking at a flower by his side, smiling a little when it raises it up into the sky. He reaches over, setting it gently on top of Tommy's head, watching as the boy's eyes widen. "What the fuck are you doing?"
"I figured that'd shut you the fuck up for a couple of seconds," Techno responds, a grin tugging at his lips. "Did it work?" Tommy tries his best to keep his frown, Techno can see that, he can see the other struggling to maintain his angry demeanour, but he falls a second later, grinning back at him.

Fundy purses his lips, even though he shouldn’t have expected Phil to know him in the first place. “I’m Fundy. I’m your grandson.”
Phil’s eyes widen before he shuts them tight, hands balled up into fists. He lets out a laugh that’s so bitter it makes Fundy cringe. “I don’t suppose you’re gonna make this easier and tell me you’re Techno’s?”

Summary
Day 3: Flowers
“I promise you. I promise I’ll come back.”
He promises, George thinks wistfully. He promises such a thing- to offer George with his word on something, to uphold it. It’s as if he’s saying that he’ll give the world to him, just for him. But somewhere is the lingering thought in George's mind is that he won't come back. That the cruel war that had riddled their land will take him too, and he will be left aching and worry-worn. George shivers at the thought. Of a life without him.
“You promise?"
That you’ll come home to me?
And as if he heard those unspoken words. Dream beams at him.
“I promise. You won’t even notice that I was gone, my love.”
George lets out a wet and broken laugh at the overly romantic pet name that he associates with his beloved. Dream does so too, before pulling him back into his embrace.
They stay there for a bit. The war can wait.
“I promise I’ll be waiting.”

i read this in 2018 when it came out and it broke me so much. i still think about this fic every often, even though it's been years literally, even though it's january fucking 2021, and how it inspired me as a writer myself, and how it made me self aware about a lot of things about myself. i truly hate that i never had a chance to comment back then but now that i'm on ao3, the least i can do is bookmark it so i can look at it often <3

Summary
When Tommy was hungry, he would crouch in the underbrush and wait for a rabbit to come by, shooting it with an arrow before spitting it over a small campfire.
When he was tired, he would rest against a tree or maybe climb into one for the night.
When he was lonely or scared or sad, he had no solution. Walking through the forest alone was better than being tortured by Dream, better than a pool of lava or a tall tower of dirt blocks, he reasoned. And he was only a temporary forest-man. Still, the quiet grated on his ears.
An AU in which Tommy runs away from not only Dream but the entire SMP, finding a new life and peace (and maybe an orphan who needs a home). When he's forced out of hiding seven years later, he's a changed man -
