Summary
The taste of saltwater entered the kiss, and Nandor pulled back to find that the rest of Guillermo’s tears had slipped free at last. He was trembling as he clung to Nandor’s shirt. “I wanted it to be you,” he said, echoing his earlier words in a broken voice.
“I know, Guillermo,” Nandor murmured, wiping the human’s cheeks with his thumbs.
He was all out of wishes. He could never go back in time and change what happened. It was far too late for him to fulfill his duty as Guillermo’s master, to become his sire and guide him through his transformation.
But he could give Guillermo this much.

Implied spoilers ahead. My aftermath of the season 5 finale.
The first kiss happens thirteen hours after it all goes down. Guillermo is full of apologies at first, Nandor doesn't want to hear any of it, then Guillermo's vision goes blurry with how totally, embarrassingly emotional he is, and he strides to Nandor to seize him by the front of the clothes and pull him right up to him. "What?" Nandor snipes, but doesn't move quickly enough to stop Guillermo leaning up to kiss him on the corner of the mouth.
It's a cute move, a small one, one that freezes Nandor up entirely. Guillermo stares up at him, at this person who should kill him where he stands but who he also loves more than he's loved basically any non-family member in his entire life. He doesn't want to die, but he doesn't think Nandor will kill him, especially now that he's done what he's done. A single kiss to the corner of his mouth.
It's making Nandor reel. "Guillermo," he says, tone low. "What are you – "
"You know." Guillermo keeps his voice soft, touches Nandor's face, the sensation a shock to both of them. "It's up to you. But all I ever wanted was to be with you forever."

The Guide sighs and holds up an old leather tome. “Just as I suspected. I know what curse they hit you with.” She walks over to them and opens the book to a page Guillermo can’t read at all. “Freedom,” she says very solemnly, like she just told him they’ll have to sacrifice him to a pack of hungry wolves.
“Fr— huh?” Guillermo says, genuinely shocked. “I’m… already… free?”
Nadja cackles. “Sure, the familiar is free. Funny.”
“Okay look, I am your servant, not your slave, there is a difference—“
“Yeah yeah sure, familiar rights and all that,” the Guide says dismissively. “They didn’t give your Dobby a shoe here—“
“Sock.”
“—They freed you from societal conventions.”
Guillermo heaves out a deep sigh. “Yeah, I don’t know what that means.”
“Basically, until we lift the curse, if you want to do something, you’re just going to do it. Doesn’t matter what it is.”

He glanced up at Guillermo with a wary expression. But Guillermo had no intention of starting a fight, so he gave Nandor a bright, mischievous smile.
“I think I made it very clear how I feel about management last night,” he said with a wink. “Several times, in fact.”
