He smiled politely, awaiting his verdict.

“Ah, right.” Scorpius took a few steps closer, reeling up the Time Turner so it swung innocently in the air between them. “Turns out these are trickier to calibrate than I thought.”

this was so achey. i felt frustration over their obvious desire but unwillingness to do anything about it. but it feels so truthful to their stories, how their childhood trauma really affected them and their ability to open themselves up to something as vulnerable as love. how even in the face of that love, it was so all-consuming and overwhelming it seemed easier to just walk away. i'm so glad they finally chose each other in the end, despite their fears they chose to trust love. "For love will conquer and will endure for all eternity."

“I’m not doing it for free. I marry you, then after a year we divorce and you agree to fund S.P.E.A.M.B. In perpetuity.”
“Out of the question.”
“It’s just one year. We would both get what we want.”
“Contracted marriages require consummation,” he said, adding a leer for good measure.
Granger had gotten more attractive since their Hogwarts days, he would give her that much. Her jumper was atrocious, though. He had half a mind to burn it.
To his everlasting shock, she merely shrugged. “It’s just sex. I’ve had it before and I presume you have too.”
She was utterly serious. Draco stared at her and contemplated being married to her. She was irritating and he might make her promise to never wear that jumper again, but it was better than the alternative.
Draco would do just about anything to avoid being poor.
“You’re serious?”
“Completely.”
“Then congratulations, Granger. You've got yourself a husband.”

i think i would have loved this if it had been a bit longer and fleshed out. the time jumps were so large i felt we missed a lot of the moments that developed their relationship. but the tropes omg the tropes! slow burn marriage of convenience, jealousy, "don't touch my wife" - i was giddy during those parts. i also give it points bc i think it was very true to draco's character.

NOW THIS is a slow burn. My heart was a clenching ball of angst thru this whole story. Tbh I skimmed pretty much all the workplace bits because I wasn’t that interested and was desperate to find out how draco and hermione finally resolve their miscommunication and get together. That trope is one of my least favorites - like plzzz just talk, you could have had five extra years!!!!! - as is draco or hermione being in a serious committed relationship with someone else, but I’m a loyal floorcoaster fan so I stuck it out. I’m so glad we got the epilogue 11 years later…ending at a wedding where it all began…my heart

woww this was so well written and such an extremely plausible story arc for dramione. i loved the true slowburn between them as you watch their need for each other's survival turn from begrudgingly to lovingly. i only wish it was a little longer with maybe an epilogue of the fallout of their relationship.

He couldn’t see where he was going, and thus there was a geospatial disagreement between his left foot and the top step, and in a show of solidarity, Draco’s body entered into a geospatial disagreement with the rest of the stoop, in this order:
1. His eye smashed into Granger’s doorknob;
2. His head smashed into Granger’s door;
3. His knee nearly smashed Granger’s cat;
4. Granger’s cat’s teeth and claws pierced Draco’s skin;
5. The bouquet, having caused all of this, evaded responsibility by removing itself from the situation entirely, flying out of his arms and landing in some undetermined location.
