Summary
A therapy-work series, Soryn is a self-insert character. He is based off myself, with minor differences. Every event he goes through is similar or parallel to events I experienced myself. This is because I like writing, love One Piece, and to help me work through some issues.
I was adopted, given up as an infant. I obviously do not have devil abilities, however - that was just a little bonus I wanted to give myself because I love zoans.
While a few events are generic (being bullied, losing a friend, etc), some events were changed because they were too specific to me so they were replaced with an equivalent (or as close to it as possible, while the overall lesson/emotions were kept the same).
And yes, I was stupid when I was in my late teens.
Story 8 includes Suicide Attempt/Self-Harm - I actually did go through this, about the same age as Soryn (his was a bit earlier than me), and I made it through thanks to my (now) partner and their cat.
Story 10 has graphic depiction of torture aftermath & lots of death.

Summary
Part 1 - Follows Shanks before he became a Yonko. He and Roger save an abandoned kid with devil fruit powers, but neither knows what impact this will have on both Shanks or Osa. Especially as Shanks is a pirate, Osa is Cipher Pol, and neither expects to end up on the same crew after a shocking request Osa asks of Shanks.
Part 2 - Follows the events seven years following the end of Part 1, where Shanks deals with a threat to his territories like never before. But under the title of Yonko, he cracks and must deal with the consequences of both his duties...and a choice Osa made years ago that set Shanks on this path inadvertently.
Part 3 - Rewrite of The Choices We Make...; added content, general improvements.

Shanks went back for Luffy, unable to bear the thought of something happening to him after Shanks already lost Uta. Luffy, from the ages of 10-16, trains under Shanks and his crew, unlocks his haki early-on, earns a bounty, then officially starts his journey just like he promised his brothers!
After Luffy starts his journey in earnest, who will his crew members be? Luffy traverses the East Blue for some select crew members before arriving in Loguetown and then leaving for the Grand Line!This is planned to span the entire series according to each Arc!
