You have never seen your own face, but you have seen your arms and legs and know from the color of your skin and more numerous fingers that you are different from them. The people notice your eyes follow them as they move around the room. This interests them. They huddle around you and talk to each other as they shine a flashlight in your eyes. You do not understand what they are saying, but it is clear they are talking about you. Eventually they come to a decision and leave.Series

Summary
Thirty years since first contact. Thirty years of war between the turians and the humans. Shanxi, a human fringe colony in the Traverse, has been the epicenter of the fighting. When both of them are tasked with securing the Prothean beacon, their lives will intertwine, and everything they thought they knew flies out the window when a mysterious ship also comes to collect.

Summary
After Shepard destroyed the Crucible, the energy expelled from the blast has changed her. She's immortal, she cannot age-- and what's more, she seemed to consume the blast, which threatens to hurt everyone around her. She left Garrus in the middle of the night in an attempt to save him, and never looked back.
Nineteen year later, and Garrus is a shell of what he once was. He drinks too much, he has too many ex-wives, and not a single turian in their right state of mind would pay him any respect. What was supposed to be a routine mission to a fringe colony turned into something even he didn't know how to describe when he picks up an SOS signal from a shuttle. What he wasn't suspected was it to be Shepard, and what was even more-- he didn't expect a blast to come out of her body that killed half his crew.
As the blast knocked them off course, Shepard and Garrus must find a way to cohabitate after nineteen years of scorn. If Shepard is just going to leave again, then Garrus wants no part in it. And if Garrus had moved on a long time ago, Shepard sees no reason for civility.
But what either of them did not anticipate was that maybe, in nineteen years, maybe neither of them changed all that much to begin with.

Summary
In order to secure the support of the turian Fleet, Shepard's sent to Palaven's moon Menae in order to find Primarch Fedorian. It's difficult to focus on the mission when the whole world is burning and she has no idea if Garrus is still alive or how she's supposed to do any of this, and it feels like she's right on the edge of falling apart... It all comes together to break her on that battle-scorched moon, when she sees something she had been praying she never would.
TL:DR: During Priority: Palaven, Shepard sees a painfully familiar-looking Marauder.

After months of failure, a sliver of hope presents itself in the form of Viscount Garrus Vakarian, known playboy, rake, slut, and all other like terms. He proposes a daring plan: pretend to court and marry for a span of four months, before Garrus fakes his death and abandons the Citadel for good. It secures Shepard's claim to Normandy House and offers the benefits of widowed life, while favoring Garrus and his all-too secretive plans he shares with no one, including Shepard. But through the fake longing gazes and fabricated dates and the tense waltzes in balls, Shepard begins to fear the one thing that could scare her more than the prospect of marriage.
That through it all, she was falling in love with the Viscount.
