They don't have years of in-jokes and growing pains to fall back on, they're basically just strangers who happen to share a parent.

Above Wylan’s bony left ankle, metal gleams: a heavy iron manacle, welded to a long chain of links that snake behind him, clattering on the floor as he moves.
Jesper watches it, mouth open as everything he’d assumed shatters and comes back together in a new shape. “You’re a prisoner!” he blurts out.
Wylan twists sharply to look at him, face creased in a familiar aggravated scowl. “Are you an idiot?” he demands. “The locked door wasn’t a clue?”
There are new weapons appearing in the Barrel. Kaz sends Jesper undercover to find out where they’re coming from. Jesper finds something else entirely.

He doesn't recognize the number, but Bo-Katan had said her contact would be in touch, though this is earlier than expected. By the time he's finished reading it, Bo-Katan is messaging him as well, a quick string of short messages that come in one after another.
Bo-Katan says, "Call me first," and "Call me now," and "This is extremely important," and "I pulled a lot of strings for this and you cannot afford to blow this off," and "Djarin, if you even think of trying to escape, I will track you down and stab you at least five times, I karking well mean it."

“Does the floating take up more…. force power?” Din asks, as he watches Skywalker meditate, hovering over the floor of the shuttle they find themselves in, “-‘Cause I can turn off the gravity systems if you want.”
Skywalker opens one eye to look at him, mid-air.
“I can’t tell if that’s a joke or not.”
“I’d never joke about the force.” Din says, seriously. “-mostly because I don’t understand it.”
Skywalker snorts to himself, even though it truly wasn’t a joke.
He stops meditating, fluidly getting his legs under him without floating back to the floor.
“The Force doesn’t work like that.” He says, “-dunno know whether I should try to explain it.”
Din shrugs.
“Up to you. I wouldn’t understand any of it, probably. But. It’s not like my schedule is full.”
Skywalker snorts again.
“Well, according to the computer, I have about a week or so to explain it to you, so, a bit of a time crunch.”

Ellie shrugged, scoffed, rolled her eyes. Fourteen, he thought. Her tear ducts welled up, a couple of beads wobbling there. A twinkle in her eye, quivering stars. Too proud, in the midst of it all, to let them tip over. Not again.
A flash, then—her in the bar, scrubbing at her face. The squeeze in his chest. It wasn’t my first time.
The sun beams down on them now. Insects humming, running water somewhere close. Her silence, louder still. Her footsteps his only indication she is there at all.
There’s been an itch, something he’s longed to say, searching for the words. To another person, another child, another life—It’s not on you to save the world.
He aches, words limp in the cage around his heart, draped over ribs. Carcass-like, rotting. That tiny grave.
It’s kind of the whole fuckin’ point.

Ruby understood her family's relief. It had been a spectacular run through the city. There was something unimaginably dark hovering around the edges of her vision and she kept it at bay by shaking off her father’s arms, climbing up to the mast so she wouldn’t have to face comfort or quiet or her own dreams. In some of his more vulnerable moments, Amethar had confessed that it was sometimes tempting to escape into them. In dreams, he’d told her, he often saw his sisters. But then he had to wake up and realize they were gone, and Ruby wasn’t sure she could survive that. Not again.
So she stared into the eternal darkness of the sky, and she felt herself wishing, even beyond hope as she was: Bring her back. Give me more time. I know you can.

For all the jokes she’s made about Joel’s name twin, on the day Joel Hendrix is brought back beaten and bloody in a body bag, Ellie isn’t feeling very light-hearted.
Especially when the body is followed by his sobbing daughter, only a year older than Ellie herself. She keeps her eyes on Tanner as she staggers by, held up by Tommy, who was sent out on the rescue patrol to bring the Hendrixes back after they broke protocol and split from their group to go after an elk and then failed to check back in.
Apparently they found something significantly worse than a lucky hunt in the middle of winter.
