Where is the sun? Tommy asks himself, frantically looking at the expanse above. But he never found it, he couldn’t see the bright ray of hope that shone every morning. It was as if the sky closed the sun away, leaving Tommy in a realm of darkness.
Tommy breathes in the cool air, disconcerted by the absence of sunlight. Which was a mistake, as he is tackled to the ground from behind. His face scrapes harshly on the rough pavement, as a familiar hand presses down on his head.

A world where everything goes downhill, and Tommy is simply a victim caught in the midst of it all. He has a power though, one that doesn't allow him to die. Because of it he survives, but to live is another struggle entirely.

Summary
There is red. Red polluting the strings like a faint poison, enough so that most of the strings Dream could see was a mix of green to brown. But the red all branched off from–
Tommy.
The red is the brightest behind him, its glow matching the strength of a regular green string Dream could make before the crater incident happened. And the final piece of the puzzle finally clicked into place in his brain.
For the first time, Dream feels fear. Genuine fear of a little, bratty kid who was supposed to be nothing but a simple plaything for him.
Because Tommy wasn’t kidnapped.
He ran away.
And the red strings belonged to him.

Or, after Dream meets Tommy in exile and threatens to kill him over and over again, Tommy decides he’s had enough. From the beginning, he was always destined to lose, to suffer, to fall after playing hero. That was what the script told him to.
And he was fucking tired of following it.
