After the shattering of Maruki’s dream reality, the bell of Shujin High’s second year rings for Sumire, and a well-deserved break from gymnastics turns into just another limbo that can’t keep up forever. But getting rid of old habits proves extremely difficult - especially when her friends are 1) set on their own goals, 2) back in their hometown or, 3) dead.
With the risk of Shujin High suspending her scholarship, Coach Hiraguchi comes to give her the definite ultimatum: she needs to compete in the coming Nationals or she won’t qualify for the Japanese national senior team.
If she accepts, the climb to the Olympics will have just begun.

one day, he knows, that is quite possible that they won't always walk the same soil. one day, their paths, their journeys, might lead them further and further away from the other. when he talks to bianca about it, she chirps a big "but we'll always be friends, don'cha worry about that! even if we don't talk for years and years, we'll have our memories, and we'll always, always be under the same big ol' blue sky!"
he takes that thought, and ties it around his heart, and he understands the concept, he really does.
regardless, he just can't help but be pulled into her gravity. after years of knowing her, he wonders, why is it now he's realizing it? is it her brightness? her fire? the worry of her well-being that festers into him thinking about her determination? her smile? or is it, perhaps, the longing that has settled in during a wordless absence that he... knew had to come.
she'll be fine. it's her. he's certain of that. but it still doesn't bring an end, an end to the curiosity he harbors.

During a cold, Colorado winter after L's defeat of Kira, Light struggles to deal with the fact that he has lost the game. But along with the bitterness of losing his New World brews something deeper: the pain from a much more personal blow dealt to Light by L on the day his godhood crumbled around him, juxtaposed against his still-lingering love for the detective. Across five scenes where Light refuses to admit he's still in love with L, and one scene where he finally does - the two learn to live together again despite the storm that they've created.

Sumire’s face feels warm. “Um…” She shakes her head. “I’m not sure what it is,” she lies. “I tried to change it like how we discussed, but there’s still…” She trails off, unsure of what to say. The imaginary ring in her hand feels like a red ribbon around her wrist, keeping her tethered in place.

The look on Tatsuya’s face is so achingly familiar- staring expressionless down at his food, slouched over like the weight of his thoughts was literally pulling him down, ignoring that there was anyone else around him and pretending to be alone instead. It looks so much like the other Tatsuya, like his other brother, that Katsuya has to stop himself from reaching across the table and putting a hand on his shoulder, telling him it’s not your fault and you don’t have to carry it alone like he did back then, in the later days when they’d grown closer than they’d ever been.
But, for all their similarities, this wasn’t that Tatsuya, and if he tried to set a hand on his shoulder he’d probably just shove him away.
