Summary
Dream knows it’s expected of him to at least come out of his room to say hello, he doesn’t think he will. It’s probably painfully obvious that he’s unenthusiastic about the date. December is just difficult for him, the holiday season draining him a bit even in November. The coldness of the house even somehow serves as a reminder, it makes queasiness twist his stomach unpleasantly.

aifilaf favorite memory: 2 am in the morning, laying in my bed, clutching my blanket to my chest as i check my emails and i see a gmail notification from graciegirl2001. i check it, it's for chapter 9. i hold my breath and read it. i read it like the fucking bible. fast forward to 4 am in the morning, i am still awake, rereading chapter 9 with dried tears on my cheeks and the blanket to the side, completely forgotten. that's how great this is. i love it so much. thank you graciegirl2001 for saving my life.

Dream hadn’t really expected to take over a flower shop. He’s not sure how it happened, actually- Puffy had asked him once, once, to take a shift for her. And now he’s suddenly up at 5 am every day to water a couple hundred plants. He doesn’t mind, mornings are calm now. Not many people are in need of flowers before the sun has even risen.
Except for today. The door swings open, a quarter past 6 am, and Dream barely has time to turn before there’s a figure at his counter, slamming a rumpled $50 onto the surface. Dream looks up, meets wild umber and taupe curls falling into sleepy lashes, a face so achingly familiar it feels like a dream.
“What flowers do you get someone when you kill their fish?”
“... What?”
________The fic where Dream fell in love with George, but never had the courage to act upon his impulses until, years later, he comes crashing into his flower shop, and back into his life.

“I’m not crying,” George scoffed. Despite denying it, he averted his gaze. “I didn’t know you’d be working here.”
Dream hummed and shrugged his jacket off. “I wasn’t gonna take the job, but Phil is a friend of my mom’s, so… I felt kinda bad saying no. And now here I am. Phil called me in, said it was busy.”
“Busy is one way to put it,” George said airly, leaning his head against the wall again, pale neck exposed.
Dream laughed quietly. “Well, I better get down there. See ya around, George.”
Halfway out the door, Dream turned around with a smirk and said, “wipe those pretty tears, George. Save them for someone who will appreciate them.”
The words burned a bright red mark into George’s brain as he sat there, stunned.

If the smile fading from Dream’s face is any indication, the halted heartbeat proves his shock further as they both sit in a short silence. The scrapbook. He had forgotten about it.
Now it just feels like he’s been missing it every day for the past three years.
Or, George knew that moving back here wouldn't be easy. Still, his ex knocking on the door in the middle of the night isn't particularly helping his case.

George loves university, for the most part. One of the only problems George has with it is group assignments. In university, it means being paired with and actually having to spend time outside of class with one of his classmates, which wouldn’t have been so bad if he just hadn’t been paired with that one person.
