In no universe should he have to witness Mydei’s hand linger on Phainon’s shoulder for a moment longer than what two friends consider proper, and then watch as Mydei flexes his hand right afterwards, clearly so affected by it. Like something straight out of March’s romance novels.
Seriously, Phainon’s eyes had softened when he looked at Mydei. Multiple times. In public! And here Caelus thought eyes could only soften in Jing Yuan fanfiction.
Dan Heng gives him a look. “Phainon and Mydei are good friends. They’re bound to bicker every once in a while.”

When it comes to predatory, soul-sucking gacha games, Cosmic Impact Rail Zero was probably the worst of the worst. Did it have incredible characters? Yes. An engaging storyline? Double yes. Did it make Mydei want to blow his entire paycheck on weapons and skins and more rolls? Of course it did.
But it also killed off basically every character in the game, including the crown prince that shared Mydei's name– Mydeimos the Undying, Son of Gorgo. How the hell was that even possible?! He literally had undying in his title!?
So when the developers ask for feedback, Mydei goes off on a heated tangent– and finds himself reincarnated as his namesake. You know– the doomed prince, destined for a life of hardship? Destined to die?
Not if Mydei has anything to say about it.

Summary
Mydei leans away from the dromas at the sight of him. He looks the same as he always does: scowl in place, dressed and armored in Kremnoan attire. Yet in Phainon’s preheat vision, Mydei is achingly handsome—sleek lines, sharp angles, and a ruggedness from years on the battlefield.
Phainon’s thighs grow wet.
“What took you so long?” Mydei snaps. “We’re heading to a negotiation, not a field trip. No need to bring all your outfits."
“What if I want to impress the stakeholder?” Phainon jests, adjusting his tunic to hide his lower torso. He falters, however, when he notices Mydei’s sharp hazel eyes fixed on the slick staining his front. For a moment, Phainon feels raw and exposed, shame creeping up his neck. Mydei’s breathing pauses, the pace slowing to something deeper and more indulgent, before he looks away.
“We have a long journey ahead,” Mydei murmurs. “Pace yourself.”
Phainon sets out on a mission with Mydei, determined to maintain the facade of being a beta despite his preheat. But then his full-blown heat strikes at the worst possible time.
Mydei takes care of him.

He didn't even know that people could have free time to indulge in personal hobbies like cooking until it came up in conversation when Feixiao and Jiaoqiu had asked him if he had any hobbies when he had just joined her command.
Which is why, when Jiaoqiu asks him for help finding the fennel seeds, he briefly hesitates. He was intimately familiar with how to swiftly take out an enemy, not with the variety of spices used in traditional Xianzhou cooking. How was he supposed to know what fennel looked like?

“I wish…” Jiaoqiu whispers, his voice just a little shaky. “... I wish I could still heal you. I wish I could at least see the wounds.”
He wanted nothing more than to be able to lay eyes on the injuries. He knew it would be torn flesh and blood that met his gaze, but it was a sight that had become strangely familiar to him. But now, with his loss of sight, he could hardly even make out the outlines of Moze’s body, much less the bandages that cover various portions of his skin.
He was left feeling utterly powerless. How he wishes he could see, even if it meant seeing Moze in such a state.
Or; Moze comes home injured. Jiaoqiu's newfound anxiety rears its head again.

The door falls open with a gentle push, its rusty hinges whining from disuse. It takes ten steps to cross the room, Jiaoqiu's hand finding the wooden countertop just where he knew it would be.
Even if, in his absence, the building has fallen into disrepair, he can still walk through the place from memory.
Jiaoqiu sighs. “I didn't mean to be gone so long,” he says into the empty air. An apology to the building he’d forgotten to care for. The poor house seems to be in an even sorrier state than Jiaoqiu himself is.

Cyno shifts from one foot to the other. Tighnari sighs, getting out of bed and coming up to Cyno, pulling him into a hug. Cyno buries his head in Tighnari’s shoulder and returns the embrace, inhaling his scent. Tighnari pets his hair, gently easing out knots that have gathered at the ends.
Cyno relents. “I can’t sleep, Nari. I can’t sleep knowing someone’s after you and Collei.”
Tighnari hums and pulls Cyno’s hair out of the way, kissing the side of his neck. “Alright, I understand. I’m right here. Please try to sleep at some point tonight?”
Cyno doesn’t reply and Tighnari sighs, ears drooping down to rest against the top of his head, tail between his legs as he goes back over to their bed and curls up on Cyno’s side, closing his eyes. Cyno follows him after a moment and leans down, kissing his temple and tucking the blankets around Tighnari’s form. Then he goes back to his post at the window.
