Story Summary:
Now that Merlin and Arthur have dealt with Arthur’s return from the dead, and with their mutual love for one another, and also with that mild inconvenience of having to save the Northern Hemisphere from an ancient magical foe, they're finally able to live their lives like any two normal people in love.All they want is to forget the past, to have a long indulgent holiday road-tripping around the world seeing the sights together as a newly engaged couple, and to get married in Avalon the coming summer on the Solstice.
Surely, that’s not too much to ask. I mean, things always went totally to plan for them before, right?
Story contains: Banter, humor, misadventure, old friends and new friends, canon-level peril, fluff and feels, a happily ever after at the end, and love. Lots and lots of love.

Her laugh came out unbridled, spilling out softly but still impossible not to be drawn in by. Not for the first time since the funeral, he found himself pondering how he never noticed how lovely her laugh was. The only conclusion he could come up with is that her laugh had never been directed at him before.

Gwen looked up and had to blink, to let the tears fall, to see who had spoken. Arthur. She hadn’t seen him in years. She then remembered that he had helped carry the casket.
Arthur quietly swore as he pulled her hands from the shattered messed. “Aa! That’s hot.” He muttered. He tilted his head at her and calmly asked, “What happened?”
Gwen wasn’t sure why she was so surprised to see Arthur, he had been good friends with Elyan since they were all children. While the two weren’t as close as they were as kids, they were still friends. She was pretty sure they played in the same rec footie league.
It wasn’t surprising to see him at her father’s home with the rest of the mourners after just burying her father, yet it was strange to see him here in the kitchen with her.
She just stared for a moment feeling so incredibly lost in a world where neither her father nor the casserole dish existed. She swallowed and finally whispered, “I dropped it.”

After burying her father the last person Gwen expected to comfort her was Arthur Pendragon, but in the most unexpected way he does.
