“It’s okay that you miss him,” said Lan Wangji, a familiar litany to them both by now. “Do you feel sad?”
“I feel sad,” A-Yuan repeated, shoulders hitching with tiny hiccuping sniffs. “When is he coming back?”
“I don’t know. I am not sure where he is.”
But this seemed to frustrate A-Yuan. “Xian-gege! I miss him! Please, baba?” He looked up at him with wet cheeks and a wide, quivering frown. “Please baba can you ask him? I really miss him!” He sobbed again, heartbreakingly.
It stabbed straight through him, cracking open the reservoir of loss and helplessness that was all his own. His child’s grief did that, sometimes. It always took him by surprise. He caught his breath sharply and gathered A-Yuan into his arms, holding him tight until the pain ebbed.
“I will try,” he said softly into A-Yuan’s hair, when he could speak again. He never made uncertain promises and tried not even to raise uncertain hopes, but his son was hurting. His son believed he could make it better. He couldn’t not try.
Wen Qing might at least know who this “Xian-gege” was. He would text her in the morning. It would be a start.

Wei Ying would never forget the day he first met Wheatgrass Guy. He had been rotating the stock of bananas, cleaning out the over-ripe ones to move to the bargain bin, when it had happened.
“Excuse me. Where can I find the wheatgrass?”
“End cap, row four -- ” Wei Ying started to answer. And then he saw him. Standing there in his flowy white tunic and his pale blue linen pants, as if that was a thing that people did. Who did that? Was it legal to do that? Wei Ying thought not.
“Thank you,” Wheatgrass Guy had said, his startlingly light eyes boring into him.
“No problem,” Wei Ying had managed. “Let me know if you need help with bananas.”
Wei Ying should not be allowed to speak. Who had entrusted him with words?
“I will let you know if I need any help,” Wheatgrass Guy had said graciously, and Wei Ying thought that this guy was too good, too amazing, too kind, letting it slide like that -- “with bananas.”

When I decided to leave a bookmark 'the best work I've read, I am too much in love to be unbiased' I've remembered there was another fic, already, that I've bookmarked as the best out there. I checked it and realised-
It's the same author!
Well, dear author, what can I say, you've outidid yourself, cause I announce _that_ is now my favourite fic ever xDD. I like so many aspects of it. Characters. Tension. Zombie. Relations. Greatly portraied angst. Family feels. Amazing Wei Wuxian with a child on his chest and an axe in his arms. The previous sentence, but paste it twice. The only thing I probably miss is having it on m shelf, but since I cannot buy it because it's not a book and we are given this amazing writing for free, I can cheer at every chapter and thank the author for hard work! <3

It was luck that Lan Wangji heard of the plan to confront Wei Wuxian in the Qiongqi Path. It was instinct that had made him accompany Jin Zixuan to suppress any violence from the encounter. It was years of musical cultivation that had turned his ear to a second flute. A second flute intent on changing the course of all their lives.
With the flute's owner in the custody of both Lan Wangji and Jin Zixuan, Wei Wuxian is called to give an account of the incident in Jinlintai, in front of the friends and family he had been hoping to reconcile with. As truths are revealed, Wei Wuxian is confined to the Burial Mounds under the protection of the Lan Clan of Gusu with Lan Wangji acting as personal guard to him and the Wens.
Leading a simpler life, friendships are tested and strengthened, truths are spoken and feelings revealed, teaching all touched by the events that family is strongest when you build it together.
