"Help," Loki says, his voice completely flat, "I've fallen and I can't get up."
"Did you just," Stark begins, staring over at him with some sort of horror. He's standing in the kitchen, cradling what appears to be a gallon of coffee close to his chest as if to protect it from Loki's villainy. "No! No, no, no! You aren't allowed to make jokes that I would make! You're evil! Be silent and brooding!"
"Oh, I'm sorry, is my existence bothering you?"
"Yes," Stark says, "there are actually few things right now that bother me as much as you do."
OR: in between the "puny god" scene and his sentencing on Asgard, Loki gets caught in a time loop. He'd his refund now, please.
(Odin is a shitty parent, the Avengers are confused, Loki is just trying not to go even more insane than he already is, and the author is starting to wonder why she has so much dialogue from these movies memorized.)

Summary
This isn't what agent Natasha Romanoff has signed up for. Because, seriously, there's a slight difference between a routine transport of a detainee from one place to another and getting hurled through space to the other side of the universe and having to survive with your only support being a homicidal alien who attacked your world not that long ago. Which is not at all made easier by the fact that said man cannot even talk.
An AU starting post OG Avengers, now more fashionable than ever, since canon is doing it as well.

She knows the hours of the day and why the sun rises in the sky in the morning, and that the stars are just more suns, just very far away. She knows that Dora in TV is not real, just a drawing, and how letters printed in her books make sounds in her head and create words and sentences and whole stories even.
She also knows there’s something living in their basement.

What the Actual.
Such a great journey from start to finish. Stark is not so dark in this fic that he's completely evil - but he's definitely not a hero.
Great portrayal of Loki - very in character. Happy enough ending. Morgan is a delight. An underrated gem.

The words were spoken calmly, while Bucky kept his eyes locked onto the gangly form prostrate in the dirt outside. When he’d spotted it in a casual pass of the window, he’d experienced shock for all of half a second before he’d quickly transitioned into acceptance and wariness.
He stepped back from the window as Steve rushed up, a damp blue dish towel in his hands. Steve’s eyes immediately narrowed in on the form that was face down by the tomato plants. It was a good sign that Bucky wasn’t hallucinating, and a bad sign in that it meant the corpse in the garden was real.
Steve gave Bucky a look, the corners of his mouth sternly downturned.
“I didn’t put it there,” Bucky said, just in case that was in question.

A mostly-dead Loki shows up face-planted in Bucky’s garden one day while Steve’s over for lunch. (Throws Infinity War/Endgame deaths and other parts of canon out the window.)
