Summary
Talon hisses, nudging Jason insistently underneath his own body, crouched on all fours under the kitchen table.
Bruce sighs, running a hand through his hair, “I know this isn’t Alfred grade food, but this is actually the least burned thing I’ver ever made.”
Talon screeches, chittering angrily, and Jason likewise is glaring venomously at where the large man is half lying on the kitchen floor, trying to slide a plate of something black and foul smelling towards them.
If Bruce wants its owlet, he will have to try much harder than this!

Talon thought the tiny human — child? — might be dead at first with how still it was, but then its eyes had opened, seeing Talon, and promptly scrambled backwards.
Talon wonders what it's doing here alone. Humans this size tend to be well protected by their nest mothers and fathers. Has the little one wandered off?
Talon coos again, scooting a little closer.
No matter. The tiny human will go cold if Talon leaves it here, and unlike with Talon, humans do not become warm again once they’ve been cold.

He smiles, all teeth, “Come on Replacement, I even got to the door with both legs busted. This should be nothing.”
“You’re right. Jason… Jason wouldn’t have given up. He would fight, I can still—“
The boy wobbles, and Jason has to suppress the mortifying impulse to jump to his aid.
“I can still fight. Batman needs me.”
“That’s a terrible idea,” he muses aloud, and if there’s a hint of real concern somewhere under all the roiling green, well, nobody can prove it.

Summary
All Tommy wanted was to make his way across the forest, to the magic-friendly kingdom on the other side so he could live in peace, safe from the witch-hunters plaguing the villages in this one.
He hadn’t counted on the forest paths twisting beneath his feet, taking him to the doorway of the infamous cursed castle instead.

Summary
Tommy thought for a moment. If a vampire wanted to drink Tubbo dry, they would’ve done it by now, and Tommy would’ve either seen it on the news or a police officer would’ve come to their apartment to share the heartbreaking news. Vampires are strong, and while Tubbo wasn’t the weakest person on the planet, almost no human could resist a vampire’s strength. The blood loss would eventually make them too delirious and frail to even fathom escape.
Which left two possibilities:
One, the vampire felt bad about what they were doing and let Tubbo escape.
Or two, the vampire had the intent to turn Tubbo into a vampire.
If it was option one, then they got extremely fucking lucky. Tubbo would have to recover from the wound and blood loss, and then they’d be fine. Sure, Tommy would get super overprotective, but that would be the worst of it.
If it was option two, then they were utterly fucked fifty ways from Friday.
•••
Or: Tommy is a vampire who lives in the city with his human best friend, Tubbo. After an unfortunate night leaves Tubbo in the midst of a vampire turning, Tommy has to consider going back to his past, or letting Tubbo die.

The Justice League are having trouble with a ghost and Constantine really want to deal with it before the ghost's king comes to collect his wayward subject. Bruce thinks it sounds like a good solution for someone to come and collect the untouchable enemy until he suddenly, horrifyingly, doesn't.
Barry let out a yelp and Bruce instinctively flinched backwards as he could feel his skin tingling, hands spasming, muscles twitching, and hear stuttering in his chest as the electricity in the air surrounding them increased increased increased.
“The king has arrived,” Constantine choked out through clenched teeth.
Really, Danny just wanted to take Skulker back to the Zone.

Lancer's fingers shook as he pressed them against Danny's neck, first feeling the cold temperature of his skin, then nothing. Not a pulse, if you can call the static humming throughout his veins a pulse. If you could call what he knew wasn't a heartbeat a sign of him being alive.

In which Danny saves a class in his human form, leaving him him unconscious and not being able to seem as alive as he should.
This is the second part of "no need to breathe," a series where we explore Danny's ghostly attributes in his human form. Today we delve further into the notion of his pulse, and the ectoplasm around his heart. As always, this has the canon plot of the show, but Danny's ghostly tendencies are slightly AU.

“What do you want?” Tommy growls, torn between being threatening and not wanting to wake Techno and alert him to the danger. The man regards him with a tilted head, just enough that something crawls up Tommy’s spine and whispers in his ears that something’s not right.
Even though there’s only one candle lit—a small flickering flame trying to warm the hunting cabin—the room feels darker than it should, like the stranger has brought shadows with him; the cold of night creeping into the room and not just because of the briefly open door, but instead because the man stands in their midst—“You’ve hidden your brother well,” the man says, head straightening, shadows softening as his eyes flicker to where Technoblade is laid out on the cot. Tommy steps neatly to the side, blocking him from view as much as he is able; decidedly not flinching when the man’s eyes snap back to him.
The movement is too sharp. Too predatory. Too unnatural.Or: Whilst protecting Tommy, Techno was injured. Now it’s Tommy’s turn to protect Techno from whoever, or whatever wants to harm him.

Jason is sprawled on his back, limbs tangled in odd folds of comforter, pillow slipped somewhere near his feet. His pajama pants are rucked to his mid-calf, twisted so their seams are off center. The sheets around him are damp with sweat and his shirt has been discarded. On his bare chest, is a scar.
The sunlight relieving the room leaves little imagination to its cause.
