The wedding band sitting on Light’s finger felt cold against his skin, the metal almost offensive in how it gleamed in the sun as though it was meant to be there. Of course, he technically wasn’t supposed to be wearing it at all, yet, but the box had been lying about, placed carelessly on top of the dresser. He burned with need to take it off, ripping the piece of jewelry off his finger and placing it back into its neat little box.
He didn’t want to do this. He didn’t want this.
•••Light Yagami is getting married. His fiancée is great—she’s kind, doesn’t make a fuss over small things, and tries her best to be a good partner. Light should want to marry her. He would rather die.

It was subtle, so very subtle that if L weren't confidently in tune with his own abilities he would have thought he imagined the reaction. His father, Soichiro Yagami, tenderly grasped his sons shoulder. He flinched, Light Yagami flinched. He suppressed his reaction as quickly as he made it. So unbelievably minute that L was determined to re-watch the interaction caught on the surveillance cameras tonight, while his suspect was sound asleep. It was so so small and yet visceral in the detectives eyes. He barely heard the words of support Senior Yagami was giving his son. Such kind words, he didn't doubt Lights innocence for a moment.
So why did he flinch?

Light Yagami had always known he was beautiful. So, how was it divinely just that he had to remain handcuffed to L, traitor to Justice and Goodness? How was it fair that Light was forced to remain at the same level, at the same step as the detective?
While Light’s hunger for liberation and separation persists, L develops another type of hunger, an obsession he claims has just to do with his hyperfixation on the case. There definitely weren’t any other reasons for his frequent longing glances and his insistence on proximity to Light… Right?
Misa’s cluelessness and irritation regarding the handcuffs only pushes the two men to a dinner reservation together… as well as a hotel room together.

Gevanni looks up from where he's shoving a bobby pin into the lock of a small box.
"Picking this open," he replies. "Halle handed it over to me. Said it was found at the recent crime scene and turned in to us." He's carefully maneuvering the tiny pin inside the lock, concentration flooding his features.
"Oh," Matsuda says intelligently.
He stands there for a bit, definitely not observing the way Gevanni's fingers flexed around the box, nor how he's so careful and methodical in his lockpicking.
Matsuda really likes Gevanni's fingers.
