As soon as he stopped coughing, he hoped it was just phlegm. It had to be just that. It had to be. Felix opened his eyes, slowly pulling the tissue away from his mouth and folded it right away, in a way that made it impossible to check the inside. Even like that, though, the crimson blood staining it was very much obvious. There was no way he could continue putting it off – he already knew, anyway. Deep down, he just knew.
But even though Felix knew, there was no way for him to stop the way his heart dropped when the tissue was fully unfolded.
Right there, in the center, laid a yellow flower petal.

Death had taken its due and the world moved on without Harry Potter. The birth of the Luminescent Baby had brought an end to an age of might and magic and whatever remained of modern mundane society and wizarding culture was swept away and buried under an era of valiant heroes and nightmarish villains.
Harry was content to use this second chance as Dumbledore had begged and started anew. Japan had never been where he had intended to settle, but Europe had its own fair share of dark memories for him and America as the birthplace of heroes was a little too high profile. Opening a small café and indulging in life's delights was a nice change of pace to being chased by Dark Lords. Sure, there was the occasional bits of property damage that came with hosting run-off-the mill heroes as customers but what magic couldn't fix, the Hero Commission's insurance surely would.
He never expected some kid would rush in, begging to hide a child Harry was sure he kidnapped. What was he supposed to do, say no?
