Ed’s seen plenty of folks run a marathon.
He’s also seen plenty of folks walk a marathon.
But he’s never seen anyone race walk a marathon. Until now.
Ed notices the cadence before anything else. It’s all hips. Hips swiveling and dipping like those of a supermodel, if that model were crossing a football field at the same pace the others made it down the catwalk. Arms pumping double time but no bounce in the shoulders—eerily smooth from the chest up. And while on the topic of chest…this might be the broadest chest Ed’s ever seen on an endurance athlete. A luminous pink shirt hugs his biceps, the swell of his tits, the small peaks of his—Jesus. With the rain and the chill, someone’s gonna get an eye poked out.
Ed hopes it’s him.
He doesn’t need both of his eyes.

Edward Teach has lived as a bandit for years after banishment from his Nora homeland. He lived up to his title as Blackbeard, a master tactician when it comes to the demise of Machines, and incredibly talented in thievery and the occasional good maim. Away from expectant eyes, he preferred to spend his time amongst ruins of the Old World scattered throughout the land. The world was much different a thousand years ago before the fall of their era, and Ed loved any history he could gather from recorded data, voice memos, and holograms.
A recorded holo of a curious man from hundreds of years ago caught Ed's attention. The man was always full of hope and wonder, entrancing Ed with his love for life and the world they lived in.
Ed had made it his duty to uncover more about the Strange man's life. Catching feelings for the holo however, was strangely a hard thing not to do.

Stede feels a sob rising in his chest and tries to push it down, but with a warm rush of panic he realises he can’t. The sob escapes his mouth, wrenched from deep some dark recess inside his chest, and he quickly stifles it with a hand over his mouth. Not quickly enough, it seems. The man to his right glances quickly in his direction, then back out of the window.
But it seems like that sob wasn’t alone, it’s the first of many. Stede is powerless to stop them coming, one after another, and he curls into himself, hoping that the other passengers won’t notice him. It seems his luck hasn’t changed yet. Instead of being left to cry, he feels a warm hand, firm but gentle on his right shoulder.
“Hey.” It’s the man next to him, his voice low and concerned. “You okay?”

Stede Bonnet is running away. He has no idea where he's going, but getting there involves an interstate bus. Edward Teach is hiding. Travelling across the US by bus means he can avoid the pressure and stress that comes with his job, at least for a couple of days.
Maybe three days as seat mates on a bus ride from LA to Chicago is what they both need.

It’s the village’s 308th annual cheese roll and fair and the rules are simple: catch the cheese to win Blackbeard’s heart.
Village newbie Stede has been rapidly falling in love with Ed, the local cheesemonger of Blackbeard’s Cheeses and Nibbles and other Delicacies and Delights (and Wines), for weeks now. There is only one problem, he needs to win the race down an extremely steep hill in order to win Ed’s heart before he breaks his own (and possibly some bones in the process).

1875. Photographer Ed has a sideline in titillating postcards, but it’s always the same, some model with a leg on a stool, skirts lifted to show a hint of ankle.
One day, he hears about a new, rival photographer, The Gentleman’s Silhouette.
He gets Izzy to buy him a stack of the rivals latest postcards.
And among the fascinating poses (is that a snake across that model’s shoulders? Wait— Is that Archie?), he spots one unlike any he’s seen before.
Swoops of blond hair, a cheeky smile, folds of some teal fabric, and legs. Legs clad in sheer black stockings. Legs with calves. One leg is kicking jauntily into the air.
The entire scene is an invitation and Ed wants to toss everyone else out of the queue and get to the front of the line.
