Chapter 3 quotes what I consider one of the more difficult passages to reconcile in the original books. I had meant to go with Oscar Diggs being an unreliable narrator, i.e. a liar.

Ponyboy Curtis, ever such a dreamer, lives in Oklahoma on a farm with his two brothers. Recently orphaned, the brothers work hard to keep the place steady with help from their friends that too live on the farm. They all help, except for Ponyboy.
Ponyboy spends his days daydreaming. He dreams of a land far away from his strict brother who believes he's "great and powerful", far away from dirty work and social and economic injustice. Though on one, stormy, windy day... he finds himself whisked away into the very world he was dreaming of... or so he thought. There, he meets faces so familiar, yet so... unknown to him, he recognizes them so vividly... just in that moment can not put a name to them.

Summary
Dorothy, Toto, and the Shaggy Man have an informal conversation around a campfire. Dorothy is 21 years old here and has been married to Ozma 1 year. In my Oz chronology, the year is 1917.
The Shaggy Man, by nature, likes to hold forth on many subjects, but he no longer can lie. The reader finds out several things about Dorothy's family and Ozma's history.
The story also explores how the Shaggy Man knows Johnny Dooit. He's a Greek god. Can you figure out which one?
The Interpretation Enchantment is my answer for how characters from Oz can understand Dorothy, et al. It's a parody of buggy, intrusive apps.

"Yes," said Toto. "You might not have noticed, for you have hands, not paws, as we Canids say. Ozma is ferocious. She withstood the Foremost. And she still sometimes bites you. Her teeth are dull, but still, she needs training. You sometimes smack her backside, but it seems only to embolden her."

"Okay. You’re sounding more and more like Glinda. Is she paying you to say this? Or is it blackmail? What does Glinda have on you?"
Toto weighed his response. How much did Dorothy know, and how much was she joking?

Each world has its own Everskipper, and she must locate them and help them to find her own way back home. Will she make it back to her sister in time to save her and avenge the people she had to leave behind? Will she ever see her true love again? What should have been a day of swing sets and jumping in puddles takes a turn for Buck and Jee when an unpredicted tornado sweeps through LA, sending Buck to Oz whilst his body lies in a hospital bed.
Somehow Buck has to save Oz from a green witch after accidentally crushing the Wicked Witch of the East (he’s pretty sure that was Tommy, actually) and helping his new friends to get what they want on the way (that is definitely the 118, he’s sure about this one).
