        Connor didn’t think his auditory processors were functioning properly. But it was unmissable; Hank’s icy blue eyes widening when they meet his, his body falling painfully to his knees. It takes exactly four seconds for Connor’s damaged form to crouch and steady Hank, applying pressure to the gunshot wound.

    “Hank! Lieutenant…” 

    “I‘ve got you.” Connor flinches at the static his voice takes on, his unmistakable fear sending his thirium pump into audible overdrive.

    “I know you do, kid.”

    “I looked for you at the station but nobody knew where you were. They said you were probably having a drink nearby. I was lucky to find you at the fifth bar.” It tries to inflict some emotion into its voice. Potentially the lieutenant will have more of a reaction to that.

    “What do you want?” It was correct. Following protocol and following order given by LT. Anderson. Tell what the objective is.
    “You were assigned a case earlier this evening. A homicide, involving a Cyberlife android. In accordance with procedure, the company has allocated a specialized model to assist investigators.”

    A second of silence falls before the lieutenant speaks up again.

    “Did Peralta send you? He better back down. You be a good lil’ robot and tell him that, get the fuck out of here.” He takes a sip of his drink, he doesn’t react to the alcoholic beverage whatsoever. This way Connor won’t be able to complete the objective at all.

After having his life threatened by Connor's evil doppelganger in Cyberlife Tower, watching another version of Connor slump to the ground with a bullet between his eyes, Hank had gone home, too full of feelings to do anything but watch numbly as the news broadcast the revolution's success. After everything, Connor returned to working by his side, ostensibly more alive that he'd ever been. Detroit was still a mess. Connor still acts the same as ever.

    Until Connor sacrifices himself for Hank, and Hank has to grapple with what it means now that Cyberlife is no longer available to replace him.

    Connor dies, and the leaders of Jericho make the executive decision to put Connor in an eerily young body. Hank has to learn how to handle it.
