When Light last looked up at Ryuk, his death imminent, he could feel the flames of hell licking at his skin. When he woke he finally realised that to be reborn he first had to be destroyed. Now he gets another chance at his ideal world and is ready to claim his throne, with L rightfully beside him.
Light knows now that he wasn't justice. L was the scale that weighed the right and wrong and Light was action, execution and influence. They would need to be together, united, for Light's kingdom.
Unfortunately Light wasn't the only one reborn anew.

Misa Amane had never been quite the same the day she'd lost her parents at the tender age of fourteen. Ever since then, she'd been a more... hollow version of herself as she fought tooth and nail to bring them justice.
Her chances of winning the five year long case were looking slimmer and slimmer, her heart sore at the fact that her parents' murderer would walk free... just like that. She wanted to throw up.
Then her saviour in faded jeans and a white shirt arrived in the form of one 'Rin Fujioka'. He was a little bit odd but he gave her what she wanted after five long years. Out all the countless times she'd begged for help... he'd come to her rescue and she couldn't thank him enough.
Misa had never thought she'd feel happy ever again but thanks to the little hermit Fujioka was... it tickled at her insides for the first time in a long time. She loved that feeling. Just a taste of it and she was hooked on it again.
Misa couldn't afford letting her happiness slip through her fingers.

Summary
Light had treated himself to some new stationery, a Montblanc fountain pen that fits so comfortably in his hand he could forget he was holding anything, and a new fast-drying ink set. He filled the pen’s ink cartridge and was about to replace it in the pen before he decided L’s name on that page was too annoying. He pressed the cartridge to the page, hard and watched the steady pool of ink bleed through the page, slowly spreading to make L’s name invisible. He had tested out crossing out, erasing, and other methods of destroying names before, and knew this would not have any effect. He wasn’t looking for one other than erasing L’s effect on him completely.
500 names later and he still couldn’t sleep. He was calmer though, and tired. Light found himself slipping into an almost sleepwalking trance. He felt like he was dreaming, watching his body act without him.
He took the notebook, went to the kitchen, turned on the gas stove, and held a corner into the flame.

The main problem Light faced was the utter dissonance between each of their daily lives and their complete inability and unwillingness to come to a compromise. Light was used to 8 hours of sleep every night, reasonable work hours, daily showers and at least an hour in the mornings spent on his hair and skin care routine (One couldn't look this perfect without putting in the work, after all, even if he made it seem effortless). L was used to.... well, Light couldn't describe it as anything but the devil's routine, coming directly from the 9th circle of hell and seemingly perfectly tailored to wreak the most suffering out of one Light Yagami.

Light tries to cope with his feelings for L as well as L's daily routines. It doesn't go as planned. Not as he planned anyway. L on the other hand, is very pleased.
