Summary
“I hate you and everything you stand for,” Lio says from his seat on the edge of the chair.
His physical therapist grins at him, unflappably perky. “Just five more reps on each side, Lio,” she says. “You can do it.”
He glares at her.
“This is ridiculous,” he says. “I used to be able to conjure a motorcycle out of thin air. I walked up walls. I danced on sword points. And you’ve got me doing leg lifts. I should be… I should be out of here, working on behalf of my people. I should be doing literally anything except fucking leg lifts.”

Lio rides off to claim his share of the Fotia family fortune.
Galo tagged along for moral support and absolutely did NOT intend to become a sugar baby. Again. Whoops. He should have learned his lesson with Kray Foresight, but maybe since it’s Lio, things will be different this time around.

“And you’re the most arrogant, self-righteous brat I’ve ever met,” Galo says.

“Listen, I’m not trying to be rude,” Galo says, arms flexing in his bindings, and Lio watches without any hint of emotion. “It’s just...I’m a firefighter, you’re Burnish. You can’t tell me this is what you wanted for a soulmate, either.”
“I never thought about it.”
That makes Galo’s jaw drop. “You—what?! But everyone wonders about their soulmate, I tried finding you as soon as my string showed up—”
“And yet you shun me now.”

Summary
“It’s weird,” Galo comments at length, “You smell different, but you don’t smell particularly like anything? I’m not even sure how I’m able to tell something has changed at all, to be honest…” He reaches up to scratch the back of his head, confused.
Remi sighs from where he’s stood at the side, pinching the bridge of his nose. “If I had to guess, it’s pre-presentation,” he says, “You know, the stage when a person’s scent glands undergo changes before they start giving off any particular scent?”
“It’s a little late for Lio to be presenting only now though, isn’t it?” Lucia asks.
“I’ve already presented, though,” Lio blurts out before he can think better of it. “I’m an omega.”
--------
In the wake of the Second Great World Blaze, former Burnish have started to regain something they thought they had lost forever: their secondary sex. Lio Fotia is no different, though he's always thought he was better off without the delicate inconveniences that came with being an omega anyway. Not that he has any choice in the matter now.
It's fine, he'll deal with it. And good ol' alpha Galo comes along for the ride. No, really, he insists.

Summary
Lio sets the dice down, folds his hands on top of his desk. “Galo,” he says with exaggerated patience, “you’re… how old are you again?”
“Twenty-two!”
“Okay. You’re a twenty-two-year-old manchild with more enthusiasm than is good for you and one brain cell to handle it with. I’m a former eldritch being of unimaginable power and considerably more years than you.”
Galo waggles his eyebrows. “I dig experienced,” he says.
Lio’s pale brows levitate into his hairline. “Are you seriously hitting on me right now?” he asks in disbelief. “Or are you just trying to get a rise out of me? And either way, do you really think that’s a good idea?”
Galo slams his hand on Lio’s desk. “I think it’s the best goddamn idea I’ve ever had!” he says.
~ in which ~
Lio is struggling with the aftermath of the Second World Blaze: mourning his fire, dealing with his past trauma, reintegrating into society, rebuilding his life.
Galo is struggling with the fact that Lio isn't kissing him. What’s up with that?

Summary
Lio Fotia has spent most of his life learning how to cope with his powers, but he can't accept them but if he can't control them. So Plan A is to try to live in Promepolis as a normal civilian as he attempts to cater to the Burnish population and seek refuge for them, all while hiding his identity as a Burnish living a double life.
However, all Lio does is a miserable job at doing so and Galo is a firefighter simply meaning to do his job wondering who's the cause of all the accidental fires at a particular district of the city. It's a task Lio decided might be a bad idea from the very start, but he is willing to give it a try.

Summary
Galo hadn’t meant to go looking for Heroes of Promepolis: The Porno Cut. He probably wouldn’t have found out it existed at all if Lio hadn’t gotten so bent out of shape about it.
So really, the whole thing was Lio’s fault.

Summary
“Galo didn’t really follow international news, but he couldn’t help hearing about the way Foresight’s regime literally went down in flames. And about all the people who needed safe havens after the Burnish Rights Foundation got them out of the country.
Galo is the kind of guy who sees a problem and immediately wants to solve it. So he put his name down to provide housing. It was kind of impulsive. He hadn’t been sure they’d actually place someone with him. But then he got interviewed, and background-checked, and someone came to inspect his condo, and it all got very real, very fast.”
