Summary
In a backyard not so far away, Kabbu, Vi, and Leif have been praised as the legendary exploration team who saved the entire land of Bugaria from the power of the Everlasting Sapling. Despite believing that peace has been returned to the miniature land, that peace is disturbed yet again by the unexpected arrival of a teenage "Giant" girl named Maggie Dolittle, who mysteriously possesses the ability to talk to the bugs in their native language.
After the young giant is shrunken down to bug size, she and her firefly bard partner Nox are appointed as Team Snakemouth's newest apprentices, often coined as Team Giantspeak. Together, as the Snakemouth Five, they unite to battle various kinds of forces within their home and even venture to mysterious worlds beyond the safety of Bugaria.

Made for Bugtober 2022 after finding out about it half way through the month, using prompts 1, 9, 13, 15 and 19. But mostly 13.
Bomby and Tod run off without telling anyone, dragging poor Ann with them and causing Team Snakemouth to go trapsing all over the lands in the dead of winter during a snowstorm just to try and find them. Along the way, feelings are shared, PTSD is dealt with and bonds are strengthened.

Summary
Pheromone assault is considered a serious crime in Bugaria and with good reason: pheromones can cause even the nicest of bugs to lose all sense of self and personality, and become utterly subservient to the whims of the one controlling them, even if it means attacking their friends and loved ones with the intent to grievously harm or even kill. And then there is the chance of causing one afflicted with pheromones to become uncontrollably... aroused.
When Kabbu is forced to fight Vi and Leif over a broken vase and his pre-Awakening mating drive is unintentionally triggered, the beetle finds himself struggling to cope. Burdened by guilt, past trauma, a crushing secret, and a love he feels he cannot share, Kabbu can only see himself spiralling downwards. If only he knew that his hidden affections were being reciprocated with just as much secrecy, by someone who has no idea how to deal with such feelings. If only both could get past their denial and their guilt. And yet Team Snakemouth have faced many challenges together before and their bonds have remained resolute. They will not allow this to be any different.

After Team Snakemouth saved Bugaria, life as an adventurer goes back to what it should be - taking requests from people who need help, not fighting for your life every day. Kabbu is... not handling this particularly well. His sleep is restless, fights leave him aching, and his friends are becoming concerned.
It would be so much easier, he thinks, if the itch clawing around in his chest would just go away.
