This author does not disappoint!! I love how the dynamics between characters were explored - Henry’s influence, Basil’s possessiveness, and most of all, Dorian’s sadism and cruelty. It definitely showed a more flavorful side to the characters from the original novel

Basil watches Dorian Gray seeming absolutely devious as usual, being a Playboy, going to parties, getting drunk and kissing many girls and boys, while keeping up the impression of a pure, beautiful young man in the daytime. He's effortlessly beautiful, and no matter how rotten his soul gets, Basil will love every part of him. However, Basil finds Gray is hiding something, (among many things, but this is different.) He knows the young 20 year old has some serious secrets, but this one couldn't be that bad right?

This fan fic is essentially an excerpt that would be inserted into the book right when Basil is leaving for Paris. Without Wilde's permission, a lot of lines were cut from his work before publication. I have read the originally unedited manuscripts for The Picture of Dorian Gray and I am using the redacted lines in this work as a way of reclaiming Wilde's original sentiments.
Story context: Basil comes to Dorian’s house to say goodbye before he goes to Paris. Basil asks to see his portrait, the best work of his life. Dorian refuses because he knows the portrait is old and ugly now. Dorian kicks Basil out of his house.

Set before the start of the classic novel- this fic explores the relationship between Artist and Muse that grew in the lead up to the fatal painting and Dorian's damning friendship with Lord Henry Wotton. In the novel, its said that Dorian and Basil were inseperable after meeting each other and spent everyday together until Dorian was accidentally introduced to Henry Wotton, however this is a part of the story we never get to see.
Upon reading Dorian's tragic downfall yet again, I was left aching to see more of the days before Dorian sold his soul. Thus, this fic was born. Enjoy, nerds <3

“You will make the place smell of smoke,” Basil warns them, as Dorian takes a drag on his cigarette, leaning forward to purposefully blow the smoke at Basil, who tries, and fails spectacularly, not to blush. Henry has seen that look many times before, and takes a certain sadistic pleasure in watching Dorian torment the man. He cannot help but think about how entertaining it would be to watch Dorian tease Basil in a much more indecent manner; to watch Dorian, on all fours, lean down to brush his ruby lips against Basil’s, only to leave him wanting. To then taste Dorian’s lips for himself, to discover if they really are as soft as they appear.
Basil Hallward, Lord Henry Wotton and Dorian are great friends; there is also a chance they may one day be more. After Dorian breaks down one evening, and Basil and Henry stay to look after him, they each realise that their bond is closer than they would ever like to admit. After that night, their feelings grow, and Basil must come to terms with a side of Dorian he was never sure he wanted to see.
