Another lord knelt before his corpse, whispering a blessing of peace to any and every god on Morzan’s behalf. When Galbatorix knew damn well this man was celebrating his death in private. He only needed to brush his mind over his to confirm the suspicion.
Lord what’s-his-name flinched when with a snap of Galbatorix’s fingers the golden doors slammed shut. “My liege…?” he stood, turning to the king.Galbatorix crossed his legs, glancing between the guest and his great black dragon thoughtfully as he lifted his glass of wine to his lips.
“Shruikan, are you hungry?” Galbatorix answered for him as Shruikan woke, stretching his spine like a cat as he shifted onto his feet, while their visitor made a run uselessly to the doors, “Oh, Shruikan’s always hungry.” He was easier to motivate that way.-

Summary
While Murtagh worked at his family's coffee shop, he and Eragon, a young college student that just moved nearby, met and quickly become friends. They both had secrets, but they knew not to cross any lines.
Murtagh appreciated having a break during work, to hear gossip about people he didn't know, and Eragon missed having someone to talk to everyday, since moving from his hometown.
However, they would soon realize that they were trapped in opposites sides of a generational war. Murtagh's was from the biggest mafia family in town, soon to be their heir, and Eragon had come to finish his father's investigation, the search that lead to his death.
(Or, a Modern AU, where dragons are people, but mysterious, and coffee shops in college towns are the best cover for laundering mafia money)

As already mentioned, this is not a very serious parody. For those who really love the books rather not suitable.
