I really enjoy the storyline that takes place in Alagaesia, but I also really enjoy the lore that goes on in Runeterra, so I wanted to try my best to combine the two into an original story. Only the very beginning chapter(s) are inspired from other stories(mostly reversed life by Rainxoxo, check it out, amazing story). Formatting WILL look better here on AO3, so this would probably be the preferred place to read on.
College kid: don't expect consistency, posting this on FFN too (same names).
Let me know if you guys think of a better title for this story, I'm not completely set on this one so far.
Edit: I didn't really like the title "Secrets in the Shadows" so I've changed it, the new title feels more relevant to the actual story, as I want it to be more based upon the actual characters and not the main plot line of Alagaesia. -

Summary
It's another Eragon rewrite. I think you have all learned by now that though I thoroughly enjoy the individual characters, I'm not sold on Paolini's version of events. Eragon and Murtagh are raised in Morzan's castle, together, at least for a little while. Everything changes when Eragon is sent/taken away from the estate. He is an angry child, but when you're raised by a forsworn, there isn't much else you can expect.
This summary will be changed as the story goes on. As per usual, not following any sort of guideline and writing whatever comes out of my brain. I really should be focusing on Disparate Book II and Home, but this has been nagging at me and now I'm writing three stories and trying to keep them straight.
I fixed chapter three. Part of it got all jumbled when I was editing and I didn't realize. Sorry!
Eragon is ten at the start of the story and twenty when things really get going.
Eragon has poor mental health and develops severe PTSD. People with poor mental health make poor decisions and he makes a few of those. There aren't exactly any therapist running around. Things will be rough, but will get better. His mental health is a major factor in this story.

Summary
The war has ended. Eragon is more determined than ever to rebuild the order of the dragon riders and create a lasting peace for all of Alagaesia. However, when Murtagh chooses to stay in the Broddring Kingdom at Nasuada's side, their hard won peace is thrown into jeopardy. With such tumultuous forces at play, Eragon has no choice but to stay in Alagaesia to protect the world he bled to create. Meanwhile, Arya struggles with her past and hopes for her future. Her wants war with her duty and conflict comes from all sides–her mother, her people, and even Eragon.
