“I don’t know what to do.” She wailed. “His heart is in the right place but he has gone too far. I want to help him but I just don’t know what to do."
He lifted a hesitant hand to pat her on the back. He felt her whole body shake with each sob and hiccup. His own tears threatened to spill over but he held them back. This wretched world did not deserve his tears.

Might it have something to do with Irma Pince showing up at Rose's wedding? Did it have to do with some cosmic joke that she arrived in 1997? She resolutely believes she is too old for this 'shit', but encountering 1997 Severus Snape in a place she did not expect, it, the universe, seems to start to give her the answers she needs.

Draco's smile dropped, his eyes flashing with irritation. "Watch it, Granger. You're not exactly the potion's greatest hope."
Hermione's voice rose, her words laced with venom. "You're the one who's going to make us fail, Malfoy. You think you're so much better than everyone else, but you're just a pretentious, self-absorbed prat!"
Draco's face darkened, his voice dropping to a menacing tone. "How dare you. You know nothing about me."
Their argument escalated, drawing a crowd of onlookers. Slughorn intervened, trying to calm them down.
"Ah, ah, my dear students...perhaps a break."
But Hermione and Draco were beyond reason, their anger and frustration boiling over.
