Summary
Selfishly, all he can think of, a repetitive and intrusive mantra in his head, is that he doesn’t want to die alone. He wants to feel the sure pressure of Hannibal’s arms around him, his large, steady hands. He wants to sink back into the certainty that he had when he had thrown them both off of the cliff only minutes ago, because there had been nothing else- but that feeling is so far gone now that Will can’t remember what it was like at all. It’s barely a ghost, now.

Will’s limp fingers prod Hannibal’s midsection, a jagged puncture wound. Cupping streams of blood, attempting frenziedly to halt the loss of it. But it coughs out liters upon liters, sucking Hannibal near-dry, painting seawater with a brilliant red bloom. Siren wails swell in volume. Ringing in their ears. One of them is going to die on this beach. It’s evident who.

Summary
Before and after the bloodied dance of unison of their becoming, they had been tied together by a red string of fate neither one of them could ever possibly hope to escape or sever. Hannibal nor Will could ever truly hope to survive the death of the other without losing half of themselves in the process.
When Hannibal wakes, he knows almost instantly that something is terribly wrong. Will had intended for their story to finally end, but only succeeded in prolonging the inevitable ache deep within them both. Through the pain, denial, and sorrow Hannibal must somehow piece back together the shattered tea cup which he had willingly broken. All the while navigating feelings he never thought himself capable of before Will.

Summary
“Do you like it here?” says a voice behind him.
He recognizes the accent, but when he turns, it isn’t Hannibal he sees behind him. It’s a young boy, the knees of his trousers dirty and ripped. Straw clings to his waistcoat and his hair and he looks up at Will with wide eyes, curious and dark and ringed with shadows. Will blinks, half-expecting the boy to disappear when he opens his eyes again, but he's still there.
“You’re thin,” Will says. “Too thin.”
