"The funny one..." she muttered, her back still turned to Jax whose stomach was twisting in a weird sense of déjà-vu. He opened his mouth to say something, defend himself, go back on everything, apologize again, cry, anything, but she suddenly spun around to face him.
"'The funny one', huh?" her usually melodic voice was taking on a more aggressive tone, "well, I'M. NOT. LAUGHING!" she yelled, hurling the block at the ground. Jax flinched and involuntarily took a step back, the knot in his stomach growing as he looked into her eyes and, oh...She was crying.
(aka Jax goes to apologize to Pomni in hopes of getting her to stop ignoring him after their fight but is instead faced with a confrontation resulting in much more than that)

Jax had always been perfectly content with the life he led, being the kingdom’s most notorious, criminally acclaimed thief and all. He was infamous. Untouchable, even. Not a soul could catch him… not even His Majesty’s royal battalion. But, as they say, all good things must come to an end. After a heist gone wrong, Jax is forced to hide out in the unlikeliest of places: the royal castle itself. He needs to lay low, make sure “Jax” disappears for a while, and start over with a clean slate. To pull this off, he turns to Gangle and Zooble, two castle workers who might just be able to help him secure that “fresh start” he desperately needs. They agree to get him a job inside the castle and even craft a brand-new identity for him… but with one condition: they get to decide who he becomes. And thus, Lady Daisy is born. Now Jax, or rather, Daisy, must navigate this strange new life as a woman. She begins as a simple maid but quickly rises through the ranks, soon becoming lady-in-waiting to Princess Pomni. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, someone is plotting the demise of Princess Pomni… DUN DUN DUN!!! (This is my first AO3 fic if you can't tell)

During an adventure gone wrong, Jax accidentally picks up something he shouldn’t have, and it starts to change him. What begins as strange numbness and static pain slowly turns into something far more dangerous, a corruption in his very code. He hides it from the others, pretending everything’s fine even as his body breaks down piece by piece. But as the circus begins to blur and glitch around him, Jax starts to suspect his illness might be the key to something bigger—maybe even a way out.
TL;DR: I give Jax some of my own health issues and some extra stuff, dial them up to 100, and laugh at his suffering.
