Summary
With every sunset, there must be a sunrise. After Midna leaves, Link and Zelda navigate a damaged Hyrule, legends of their past, and their new friendship. Link tries to forget his dear Twilight Princess and finds his place in a post-crisis world. Meanwhile, Zelda looks to her broken kingdom and must learn to juggle her role as regent as she creates enemies left and right. He calls her “miss”, and she's not used to having friends, but everything good has to start somewhere, right?
Or… Link and Zelda become soulmates/coworkers to friends post TP, Link is shy, Zelda is stressed, they send each other letters, manga influence, and it’s edgy because it’s Twilight Princess. The burn is SLOW but if you squint it's pretty obvious. Started: 10/15/2023. DAWNBREAK PLAYLIST🐺☀️

The kingdom will thrive under them.

They had a plan. Awaken Divine Beasts. Take control of all the old Sheikah Tech. Train and train until Ganon arrived, at which point they would stop him. The plan failed. Mipha fell first, ice crawling through her veins. Then Daruk, melting in the heat that first caused his blood to boil. Urbosa was next, falling when the electricity became to much, but still fighting and piloting her corpse for about a month before it rotted away. Revali fell last, soon after Urbosa's true death, the air ripped out of his lungs, and his blessing bestowed upon an old friend. They say that Link fell next, then was Zelda's eternal sacrifice. Except, the thing is, Link fell first, but not from life, instead from grace.

Prince Link Hyrule(born to King Twilight Lupin Hyrule and Queen Midna Hyrule, older brother of Princess Aryll) is the wielder of the Triforce of Wisdom. Lady Zelda Florian is top of her class at the Academy, and is the wielder of the Triforce of Courage. Lady Impa and her cousin Sheik are two of Link's closest friends(as well as Lady Mipha of the Zora). Purah and Robbie are part of research teams studying Ancient Sheikah Tech by order of the king. Revali is a self conscious teenager who's struggling to develop his own flight techniques. Lady Urbosa is engaged in constant turmoil with the Yiga Clan. Daruk is helping his people expand their mining operations. They all come together during a battle in Hyrule Field, where Link, Sheik and Impa meet Zelda face to face for the first time, and the king decrees that Zelda is to be Link's appointed knight. He doesn't like her, but the Calamity is slowly yet surely approaching, so he tolerates her. But something tells him that there's more to defeating Calamity Ganon than harnessing his powers and a pretty girl with a magic sword stabbing him in the face. As he unweaves his past, though, he begins to learn why some things are better left unknown.

Alternatively: Link is frustrating, Revali doesn't know how to lose a game nobody's playing, and maybe Revali might be into being bothered.

Years later, Link enjoys and despises his own irrelevance in the middle of a sea of gray, and honoring those who were lost becomes an all-consuming task that seems ever out of reach. Revali once again watches powerlessly as a force from the past overwhelms and consumes something he cares about from the inside out.
Or; as Link falls back on old behaviors, Revali does his best to pull his stubborn partner back from the brink. For his part, Link slowly relearns his own power, the nuances of surrender, and the difference between forgiven and forgotten.

If Link remembered at all, he'd remember it like this: the moment he pulled the Sword from its pedestal, he became a weapon to be passed from hand to hand until the Ancient Evil actually deigned to show up. It didn't occur to him that someone might have feelings for him, because it didn't often occur to him that he was allowed to be a person. But when you care about people, as it happens, people usually care about you. Maybe not the same people, and maybe not in the way anyone would expect, but they do.
If Link remembered at all, he'd remember this: behind that face of stone, he cared.
