“He’s the deadliest swordsman in all of Hyrule. The most skilled. He wields a blade of legend. You should be protecting me from him.”
By the time those words were uttered, it was already too late.
Zelda kept a wary eye on the half-eaten apple that he had set back down on his bedside writing desk. He seemed oblivious to the twisted symbolism of it all. Forbidden fruit. The poisoned apples of the fairytales that they read as children.
Could he really be so blind?
The people rejoiced in the streets of Castle Town. They made gracious offerings in the plowing fields of the southern provinces, nestled against the far stretches of Faron Woods. The Kingdom of Hyrule celebrated the newfound peace after the plight of the Twili, and the final death of Ganondorf. They looked to the skies and they saw a god.
He became a vessel for their torment. He grieved for them. He carried their burden on his shoulders.
The weight of that weapon, of which had singed its mark deeply into the palm of his hand, would never leave him. The hushed voices of the scorned spirits resonated within the blade, their whispers lilting and lamenting in his ears.
That prince quelled those voices. -

Link took in the large man with his bright red clothes and shiny jewelry. He wondered if he could get some clothes that color. And what kind of rocks those were in the jewelry?
“I'm sorry, sir. This is my son, Link. I'm sure if he'd known you were here he'd be on his best behavior.”
Link knew by the tone, that was really an order. Dad always said to be polite to adults. But this didn't seem like a “please” or “thank you” situation. Link wasn't too good at remembering all those other manners. Well, being polite was like being nice, right? So Link did the nicest thing he could think of.
“Wanna see my frog?”
Or a look at what might have been if pre-calamity Link had grown up with more freedom and got to hold on to more of his gremlin energy.

Summary
This is a complete rewrite/edit of Exile//Vilify, an Astor Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity backstory fic. Plot and structure remains largely the same, with some enhanced nuance, rewritten portions, and some additional scenes. A gift for all those who adored the original posting, which will remain up and untouched.
Original summary:
Astor has trained since childhood to become the next Royal Seer. But, he is plagued with a dark secret: a prophecy that states that he will one day be expelled from the castle, sent into exile, and devote his life to Calamity Ganon.
If there are some people who are destined to become heroes, then there are others who are destined to become villains. How much free will do you have in a world full of "chosen ones," and what is the cost of knowing a future you can do nothing to circumvent?
Dedicated to all those who have never been chosen, but especially to those who have ever felt they’ve been handed the short string by Fate.

They stare at each other. Ganon's form constantly shifts and undulates; his hatred and malice unable to keep a consist shape as they are hell bent on spreading to every corner of Eijirou's kingdom. Now that Eijirou is here, face to face with hatred incarnate, he feels that his fears are nearly erased. Ganon is a powerful monster, but he would not defeat Eijirou—he refuses to ever allow such a possibility to become reality. Too many of his people's lives have already been lost, Eijirou would not let Ganon take more. Not even if it is a single life. He has no desire to die, his life is too short-lived with too few good moments, but if his life is all it takes to permanently seal Ganon away then so be it. Eijirou will not trade his people's lives for peace but he will certainly wager his own.
Ganon lets out an ear-piercing screech and charges towards Eijirou. He is mere feet away when Eijirou holds out his hand towards Ganon and unleashes his power, instantly trapping them both in the prison of Eijirou's creation.

Link learns about his past, his childhood, his heritage. Somehow nobody knows why Link is the only Hylian (no explanation for real?) with the Triforce clearly visible on the back of his hand (come on, Nintendo) living in a treehouse in a small village at the edge of the kingdom. And nobody knows about his family either. OoT Link shares a similar fate, but at least we know his mom took him in care of the Kokiri before she (most likely) passed away. I know, the TP manga has its own plot about this, but I like to share my own fiction, too :D Also some Link/Ilia hints. Or more like obvious stuff. Take it or leave it. I you don't like (or even hate) their „relationship“ (because of her bossy attitude) you should skip that fanfiction.

A reimagining of Hyrule pre-calamity centered around Hylians and Rito.
‘Rito are not known for staying still. It is in their nature to allow the wind to guide them to their next home. It is not uncommon for them to find a place to make their own for a few months only to then leave everything behind when the winds beckon them, there is a high likelihood that a Rito will never nest in the same place twice during its lifespan.’
So why did it seem like the new flock in Hebra weren't planning to leave?
With his flocks winds having settled, Revali finds himself having to adjust to a completely new lifestyle as they stop migrating.
Meanwhile, Link and Zelda are enamoured by these new creatures yet don't quite understand that Rito aren't just feral birds.
However, Link is quick to realise that these people aren't animals when he ends up a little closer to one than he'd planned. Will Zelda be able to save him whilst balancing her role as an obedient princess?
