    Being named after the stars was a common thing, people see their beauty and their magnificence, and they want it for their own. Stars hold a sense of wonder, of power, of time and space and everything in-between. They have an innocence to them, a feeling of safety, of a higher being looking down on the world, glistening from the galaxies.

    Stella was named after these stars, but not for any of the above reasons. Her name was chosen because stars were made up of fire, they burned brightly- just as she did. She had spent her whole life being Nick Fury's super-powered child assassin, it was all she knew and the main lesson he had taught her was to kill or be killed. She was his brightest star, his favorite killing machine- but everybody knows stars shine their brightest when they are about to burn out.

    When SHIELD falls, and she is suddenly at risk of being exposed, Fury sends her to his other heroes, the Avengers, and Stella learns there's a whole lot more to life than Nick Fury had ever taught her.

    Or, Tony Stark has a problem not adopting troubled and parentless children, especially ones that shine brightly once he enters a room.

    “You’re still not over me turning you into a baby emperor penguin last year, are you?” Loki questions, failing to suppress a snicker. Peter and Harley join in the snickering, as Morgan nods in enthusiastic approval. It had been her idea, after all.

    Thor looks away surreptitiously, likely remembering his own time as perhaps the world's smallest baby polar bear.

    “It wasn’t funny!” Tony exclaims, his cheeks blushing a soft pink that Loki is positive is only because of the cold weather, of course.

    “Please, you were adorable,” Pepper retorts, a wide grin on her face. Her expression clearly promises that Tony is never going to live that one down.

    “I second that statement,” adds Nebula, an amused smile even on her expression.

    Loki, of course, still has pictures and misses no chance of using them as blackmail.

    Stripped of the body he'd always known, Loki is bound in his true form, that of a frost giant runt barely on the cusp of adolescence. Yet no one knows what lies under the false image of the disgraced second Prince of Asgard, certainly not Thor. Odin knows full well that Loki would not survive the truth of his lineage being uncovered, and he still had use of his stolen relic.
    However – weak from months in Asgard's dungeon after barely recovering from Svartalfheim and Thanos' ministrations – Loki is stolen from Asgard's dungeons by Thor. As the only known wielder of two Infinity Stones, the Avengers hope to use Loki to uncover the reason behind their appearance on Earth. Especially in light of the Mind Stone taken form as their newest ally: the Vision.
    But they are not the only ones who have use of a bound child mage.
    Fate has other priorities.

    "Let me take him," Loki said in a quiet, tight voice. "I'll come with you willingly, but let me carry him."

    "Why?" Tony asked curiously, even as the Captain was shaking his head to say no. Asking questions had gotten Tony where he was in life, after all. That, and it couldn't hurt to get a little insight into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s newest extraterrestrial capture before they brought him on board the jet to return to the helicarrier.

    Loki's eyes were still trained on Hardin in Steve's arms as he answered Tony. "Because he dislikes being touched by strangers." Then, as if agonised by the word, he gritted out an irate please that made Tony's eyebrows shoot up behind his mask. It was telling that a man who seemingly viewed humans as lesser was willing to plead with them for any reason, solidifying Tony's theory that Hardin was very important to Loki further.

    Or; the one where Loki isn't alone at Sanctuary, doesn't particularly want to subjugate humanity, but will do just about anything to keep Hardin safe from The Other.
