Laylah Beth could not have asked for a better husband in Mark. He supports her through everything, even the hell that was her miscarriage. When he gets a promotion, she's thrilled, but can't help but wish she'd gotten a well-earned promotion too. When an opportunity arises for Mark to potentially become in charge of the entire Institute, she wants him to take it, even if it's through violent means.
Mark just wants to carry on the Institute's mission of using science to help people...and get lots of praise for it, of course. Even if a few people die in the process, it's still worth it if it's for the greater good...

Macbeth has been slain. His wife has killed herself. Waking up in the afterlife, both are left to deal with the weight of their actions. In the weeks before their deaths, they have drifted apart due to their different responses to their traumata. Eventually, they find each other, and with that a potential ally and source of comfort.
This is rated mature due to mentions of Lady Macbeths attempted suicide.

The main goal is to stay away from Macbeth’s perspective as much as possible so you get to engage with as many different characters as possible[OCT 2024 UPDATE] I have been aware for some time now that this summary is basically obsolete with where the story has actually gone, so instead I offer you this: TWTTWBA explores the lives of many 11th century historical figures with a slight twist. History is (broadly) the same, but gay people is normal. Also there are witches. And dragons. And (sort of?) an overarching plot I am building up to. It involves Macbeth, if that wasn't already obvious XD. And also 1066, but you'll have to stick around for another decade probably for me to get that far....
