Crawling out of the vault had been difficult. She had to see it as a mission, if it's a mission she could be all business. She could put on her game face and destroy the man that kidnapped her son. Now? Her mission is getting more complicated; as she looks for her missing son she also has to learn to connect with a soulmate that she wasn't expecting.
And it definitely wasn't part of her mission to fall in love with him either.

Miriam Braxster. That's what it said on her driver's license. That's how conductors introduced her. It's a name she'd hoped one day would be printed on a brass plaque on a door in some prestigious conservatory. And it's what it said on the very top of sheet music the world didn't even get to listen to before it destroyed itself.
Mac's pretty sure the only place Robert Joseph Maccready has ever been written down is on the note tucked into the basket his parents left him in.

It isn't until she meets the mayor of Goodneighbor that she begins to realize the position that she's in, and that she's got a long road ahead of her before things start to look up. Luckily, she watches the community around her begin to build, but as acquaintances come and go, the one who is always there is the handsome ghoul in red, the one who saw her at her worst and chose to stay.
