Maria had always been a bit of a tomboy, even from childhood.
Never wanted pretty dresses, or dolls...
Always matched with her brother instead.
Their parents didn't know if it was a twin thing or what, but they eventually just accepted that's how Maria was.
Then, as she got older...
She didn't wanna get a feminine job, either.
But it was hard to be taken seriously in manual labor as a woman.
So, when she saw Luigi easily get a job in the field, and even get asked if he had a brother who'd like to come on...
Maria had an idea.
And thus, Mario was born. A persona with a fake voice and even faker mustache that Maria put on to work alongside her brother in their dream jobs.
But, years of living a lie later, it was taking a toll on Maria...
She returned home one day, tossed the mustache aside, and just... collapsed into bed.

Summary
If anything, Larry Koopa is loyal.
Loyal to Bowser. Loyal to his kingdom. Loyal to his siblings, who he's always had even when he's had nothing else. When war beckons, Larry doesn't care that he's barely fifteen. The objective of war, after all, is simple: destroy the other side.
But things get complicated when Bowser begins keeping secrets and invites a power that costs his kingdom everything.
