Pain was something that came with the “poor kid on the streets of New York” gig.
Pain, dirt, holes in shoes and clothes, hunger pangs, that came with it.
All that came right along with living day to day on a couple dimes a week. Fights were unavoidable when you were in charge of a group of kids, or even if you weren’t, really, and when the choice was between new shoes, lunch, or a place to sleep out of the rain or snow, well, medicine cost more than going hungry a few days. There was one right choice and two wrongs ones there, for the most part.

He also knows the dizziness dropped and turned into a wave of lightheadedness, his loss of senses had been progressing throughout the day, but it quickly ramped up as his family was sat around the table for dinner, and before he knew it, the tight grasp that feeling of “something isn’t right” had on his chest let go as suddenly as David’s consciousness did.
This is a prequel to a multi-chaptered fic I'm writing at the moment. The fainting condition isn't necessarily the main focus, but whatever I started writing this to get inspiration for that and liked it enough

Summary
Jack is happy. He has everything he ever wanted. He swears to god that he's happy with his career and his fiancé and everything in his life that turned out perfect.
David wanted a certain set of things in college, but he has none of them. In college, he was poised to jump into a successful scientific career, he had a long-time boyfriend whom he loved dearly, and he had some semblance of order. Now, he has absolutely none of that, but he's happy with his life of planning weddings and loving his friends and living alone with his cats.
And of course, David hopes that Jack sees how great he's doing and feels bad for how they ended. And of course, Jack feels bad. But they're never going to see each other again, so it won't be a problem.
Until David is hired to plan Jack's wedding. Then things get... messy.-
