Summary
You took on a few sniffers at your ranch a little less than a year ago. Unfortunately, it didn't take very long for 'a few' to turn into a full herd, and for that herd to be able to outgrow your ability to care for them. Turns out previously extinct species looking to repopulate tend to breed fairly consistently. You devise a plan to resolve the issue using a breeding mount, the same way you deal with your horses in rut. Unfortunate for you, this doesn't exactly go to plan when your first test subject gets antsy and begins throwing his weight around while you're still in the proximity of the mount.

The slime tumbled into the minecart, flooding it with its body. Immediately, Grian was engulfed in cold. The slime’s body filled the minecart to the brim, leaving only his head exposed, hanging over the edge of the minecart.
But the slime didn’t attack. It sloshed in the cart, soaking his clothes and skin, but made no move to kill him. It started to vibrate. Grian moaned when he remembered the last Hermit meeting. X had explained that the glitch making the mobs loving, as Scar liked to put it, was no longer just a glitch. It was still uncommon, no doubt, but it pushed X to implement a safe word, a phrase their communicators would hear, making them contact X, who would teleport them to himself for a check up.

The plug had taken him weeks to work up to, once he’d decided to go through with Evil X’s half-asleep comment. He’d put in the research, made a few semi-discrete inquiries with the Hermits he knew went for that sort of thing, and even let Scar and Cub help him with ordering what they thought he needed. The first few he managed on his own, knowing his limits and working up to wearing them long enough to make a difference, even up to being able to sleep with them in. And then taking a day a week to play with his clone, to explore just how much he could take, until Evil X was figuratively chomping at the bit to try it out.
After all, taking a dragon's egg wasn't exactly a task done on a whim.Series
