Mother quietly forced her Other to laugh quietly, under her Other Child's range of hearing. A joy to have muscles, a joy to see... but it wasn't like this was all in her head.
"You think this is a dream, don't you?" Mother said. She forced her Other to click her tongue. Denial.

Summary
Shortly after the events of Avengers Infinity War, a lonely teenage boy named Harley Keener decides to ease his boredom by creating a virtual world based on his favorite space video games and movies after reading the novel Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. He calls the device Immersitopia, an amalgamation of the words Immersive and Utopia that is inspired by the OASIS system from Ready Player One. He soon starts to lose himself more and more into his virtual reality world to the point where he can't tell what's real and what's not real as the lines begin to blur. Eventually, the characters from the various worlds begin to realize that Harley isn't actually in these worlds physically and they want to meet him in the real world, further questioning his sense of reality as he starts becoming slowly insane from the isolation he is feeling from his own world following his family's mysterious disappearance.

To combat this foe, the Galactic Federal Police keep watchful outposts in every corner of federally-controlled space. On the savage world known as SR-388, a biologic research team has just discovered something which should have been left forgotten beneath the surface.
This is a retelling of the Metroid story with a focus on worldbuilding and character development. It is also an experiment, being my first narrative work. Please let me know what you think-- not just about the story, but about the writing style, pacing, characterization, etc. I aspire to write original fiction, so your criticism at this point will be immeasurably helpful and greatly appreciated.Series

Summary
A grand reinvisioning of the Metroid universe focused around the lives of Samus and (my take on) Sylux from the earliest days to every major chapter of their lives as they experience and shape the greatest time of crisis in an aeon. Whether it's grand missions or simple, quiet moments of day to day life, the story is fundamentally about what is like to grow up as a youth in the far future as the status quo crumbles away and far more uncertain and dangerous times await, and what it is like to be born human but raised by alien beings who are all but myth to most and to bear the burden of great expectations.
All comments & feedback welcome. Even the silly ones.
Undergoing fairly extensive rewrites to fix some internal continuity errors. The overall plot won't change though.
