Sofia could barely speak for her sobs. She tried to tell him everything Kellogg had said but hiccupping through it made it all come out wrong. To his credit, he got the general gist of what she was saying.
“So, the Institute has him,” he said, “That’s not ideal, but we’ll still find him.” He held her tight as she cried into his chest. He stayed steadfast as the weeping turned to screams and then back again; all the way until they subsided down into ragged, hiccupy breaths.
“I want to go home,” she said, “I can’t stand this place, I don’t want to be here anymore.”

We all walk in comfortable silence as we trek through the woods towards Outpost Z, Nick leads the way since he is the only one of us that has been there. Deacon strolls casually at my side, humming to himself.
I steal a glance, his face is unreadable. His eyebrows raise slightly, “Something on your mind Charmer?” He asks.
I shake my head and glance back at Nick. “Why are you two looking for Nate anyways?” Nick finally asks.
“We received a message on the Railroad’s terminal about a synth refuge in Far Harbor, so Charmer and I decided it's worth a trip to see if it’s true,” Deacon says, bumping my shoulder.
“A synth refuge you say?” Nick says thoughtfully.
“Think it's legit?” I ask.
“It’s definitely an interesting idea,” Nick responds.
I look at Deacon and he glances at me with a shrug, only he would be casual about the possibility of us walking into a trap.

“I got word of a missing girl and I was hoping that you could assist me.” Nick says, looking at Nate. Kai shoves Deacon’s legs out of the way and sits down. Maybe I do need a couch.
“And it just so happens that there is some Railroad business in Far Harbor, we thought you two could use another adventure.” Kai says.
“Do I get to pick my own clothes?” I ask with a smirk.
“Yes Darling,” Deacon says from his position on the bed. I look over at Nate for confirmation. It’s pointless though, I already know his answer.
“We’re in,” I say easily.
This is the third piece in the Records of a Reformed Raider series. Like some of the other installments this piece runs concurrently with my sister’s piece “Welcome to Far Harbor” that follows the story from Kai’s POV.
