Aspiring investigative Journalist, Aziraphale Ezra Fell and his florist partner Anthony Crowley had just gotten married. Even though his career has stagnated over the past 5 years, Ezra is ready to live in domestic bliss with his spouse and take off for a romantic honeymoon to the south of France.
However, their post-wedding holiday plans are cut short when Ezra's boss, Gabriel offers him the assignment he's been waiting for since he graduated from University. Ezra is to drive to the abandoned village of Painscreek and discover who killed the wife of the ex mayor. He also needs to figure out the motive and murder weapon. And he needs to write about it by Monday!
Not wanting their husband to go alone, Anthony offers to travel with Ezra to help solve the case. However, the pair soon realize this case is more complex than they anticipated. As more secrets are revealed within the sleepy little ghost town that once was Painscreek, Ezra and Anthony soon discover they are not the only ones there...

Crowley replaces the dress on the hanger, the plastic clunking against the bathroom door. “Not yet,” he mutters. The word sorry lingers on his lips. Sorry I can’t do this, sorry I can’t be brave enough for you, sorry, I’m sorry, you’ll have to wait a little longer.
