They don’t talk on the way back to the townhouse. They all sit in a huddled silence until Stan laughs quickly, elbow leaned against the back of the truck. It’s hard to hear him over the wind but he yells, “You remember when I introduced you to everyone back in elementary school?” He taps his foot against the inside of Richie’s leg.
Eddie is curled into Richie’s side and he unfurls enough to look up at him. Richie considers it, “You called me an ugly girl. Right in front of Bill and Eddie and God.” He shakes his head and Stan beams at him.
“But what a fucking man.” He says and Richie throws his head back, laughing wildly.

Summary
They’re only a couple inches off the ground, a thick wedge that hints Richie doesn’t frequent this type of footwear. The straps are thin and extend over the tops of his feet, his toes hanging a bit off the edge like they’re a size too small. They’re clearly not meant for someone like him. Still, they still do wonders for his calves and thighs. The combination of shorts that show skin and the flexing muscles working to keep him upright leaves Eddie stupidly breathless, standing in a crowd amongst cheering, sweaty people all focused on things other than the middle aged man in heels and a tank top.

They knew when they started this—after equal blubbering on both their ends, no matter what either of them say—that it was going to be difficult. Richie is still in the middle of some rather intensive physical therapy after taking the bulk of his fall out of the Deadlights on his knees and two herniated discs in his back, and Eddie is in the middle of an acrimonious divorce, both in cities all the way across the country from each other. Video and phone calls can only go so far, and despite Eddie’s two trips to LA, he still feels bereft about their situation. The last plane ride back, about a week ago, is when the idea occurred to Eddie for the first time. He hasn’t been able to keep his mind off of it since.
Eddie takes a deep breath, not sure why he’s so nervous. “I found a place I kinda want to… take you to.”
“Oh?” Richie’s voice perks, and Eddie can’t even find it in himself to care if he’s about to be made fun of. “Is this a place of ill-repute?”
