“Remember–” Richard started, only to be cut off with a huff by Dick, who looked up from the ledge at him. The boy glanced back into the window, and then slid it open carefully; they’d been watching this house in particular for weeks. No one would be home, the mother was at work and the two children would be at school.
Dick had purposely befriended them for this purpose.
“I know, I know,” he replied with an exasperated tone and sent a single thumbs up. “In and out, grab what I can and if my bag gets full, leave everything else.” He’d been doing this for the past four years, he knew what to do and exactly how to do it. “You don’t need to worry, Uncle. After all, you trained me.”
Richard sighed, one hand pinching the bridge of his nose, and waved for Dick to start with his other hand. “Go quick now, okay?” The window had already been slid open and then Dick just disappeared into the house. “Remember, only take what we can really sell.”
“I know!”
OR Raptor gets to adopt Dick per Romani culture and evidently Marie’s wishes.

Dick really hoped that one day he would outgrow the “Boy Hostage” moniker. Honestly, if kidnapping attempts could be kept to a maximum of 3 a day, he could keep up with them easily. Most would-be kidnappers weren’t even that talented, it was just he never got the chance to relax his guard, and fuck if it wasn’t exhausting.

It feels like there's something lodged in his throat when Damian takes the pen and tries to decide what to write on the sheet. Part of it is probably that Dick was so predictable in his choice. Part of it is that feels anxious and squirmy inside to be included in this at all. He doesn't want to write a villain on this list. He wants to write a hero. Someone they'd all judge him for.
