Between awakening her powers at Fort Hateno and sealing Calamity Ganon in the Sanctum of the castle, Zelda cannot make this journey without the guidance of the women in her life. She must guide Link's soul to resurrection, align the stars for him to deliver Hyrule's saving blow, and keep the Calamity at bay in the meantime.
It is the duty that falls to every daughter of Hylia. She must bear what nobody else can.
"Ten years ago, when her mother died, Zelda snuck into the room in which her body was being prepared for the royal funeral procession. Long after her father had been taken away, weeping, from his wife’s body, her ladies-in-waiting were still performing their duties – washing her with rosewater, burning myrrh and jasmine resins around her bed, threading jewellery made from juniper berries around her ankles and wrists.
Later, Urbosa – who had travelled all the way from Gerudo Town and stayed in the castle with Zelda for a week – taught her how to sew a traditional Hylian offering, embroidered with a little bird in golden thread and placed underneath her mother’s coffin pillow.
All the while, her father had sequestered in his room and mourned alone."

They say the flow of time is always cruel. Nobody knows this better than Link, who feels like time is determined to make his life as miserable as possible.
After finally defeating Ganondorf and freeing the Kingdom of Hyrule from the King of Thieves' seven year reign of terror, The Hero of Time is sent back to regain his lost childhood.
Only something has gone wrong. Now the boy from the forest has found himself in a strange new world that has been ruined after a great calamity. A terrible evil lurks within Hyrule Castle once again.
Link really wishes Navi was here to give him some advice. He's not sure if he's up to defeating a great evil and saving the Kingdom a second time.

For this reason, the Shrine of Resurrection was poorly named. True resurrection was not possible.
The creature that emerged from the Shrine might inhabit the body of the hero, but they are not the same person. -

To use the Shrine of Resurrection on any of the Champions would be useless. They wouldn’t remember who they were, they wouldn’t remember their purpose, and it would be futile to try and take back the Divine Beasts that enclosed them.
But Link was different.

Zelda sent Link off to the Shrine of Resurrection in hopes that it could save his life. Impa, Purah, and Robbie were stationed on the Great Plateau, watching as Hyrule was destroyed all around them when two Sheikah scouts showed up with the fallen Swordsman in hand.
